    • A game or puzzle for pre-school children which exploits both the olfactory and visual senses. The game is formed by a playing board having printed thereon at distinct positions pictures of different odoriferous objects such as fruits having characteristic smells. Superimposed on each pictured object is an identifier constituted by a major circle and a minor circle concentric therewith, the circles being radially divided into colored segments. Each identifier has a distinctive color pattern that differs from every other identifier. The periphery of the minor circle is scored to define a punchout disc, the surface of which is coated with a myriad of minute, rupturable capsules containing an odor-producing substance whose smell is the characteristic odor of the related object. The discs are removed from the playing board to create sockets therein, each of which is surrounded by a major circle ring whose color pattern matches that of the removed disc. The group of discs serve as the play elements of the game, the player being required to select a play element and to scratch and smell its surface. He then places the element in the ring socket of the pictured object which he believes gives off the same odor. The correctness of his choice is confirmed if there is a match between the color pattern of the element and that of the socket ring.

    • Disclosed are normally substantially colorless chromogenic 2-phenyl-1,2,3-triazolofluoran color precursor compounds having the following generic structural formula: ##STR1## wherein each R.sub.1 represents either a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having from one to five carbon atoms and wherein R.sub.2 preferably represents either a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl group having from one to five carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group. These compounds are generally substantially colorless but capable of becoming highly colored when brought into reactive contact with many conventional Lewis acid materials. Accordingly, these compounds are highly useful as a component of pressure-sensitive copying papers.

    • Compositions, preferably in particulate form, comprising a cellular matrix having oil in the cells thereof in which the matrix comprises polysaccharide and polyhydroxy compounds in such proportions that the oil may constitute up to 80% by volume so stably held in the cells that the extractable oil is not substantially in excess of 5%. This is accomplished by proportioning the ingredients to produce a glassy, preferably water soluble, matrix having a plastic or flowable range that prevents or seals oil escape paths in the wall material such as cracks, fissures, pin holes and deep pits. The polysaccharides are primarily not the sweet, readily soluble saccharides like sugar but rather higher polysaccharides of the non-sweet, colloidally soluble types such as natural gums, e.g., gum arabic, starch derivatives, dextrinized and hydrolyzed starches, and the like. The polyhydroxy compounds may be alcohols, plant-type sugars, lactones, monoethers and acetals. The process of making these compositions comprises forming an aqueous phase of the polysaccharide and polyhydroxy compound in proper proportions, with added emulsifier if necessary or desirable, emulsifying the oil (either of the volatile or non-volatile type) in the aqueous phase and removing moisture while the mass is plastic or flowable, e.g., by spray drying droplets of the emulsion, by spreading on a substrate such as a belt, drum, drinking cup and the like.
