    • A transmission line system, a device for fault protection and computer programs, and a method for locating a fault in a series-compensated two-terminal power transmission line including a compensating bank for providing series-compensation to the transmission line. Different subroutines are utilized for locating faults on line segments from the first terminal to the compensating bank and line segments from the second terminal to the compensating bank. A selection is then made in order to determine a valid result. The subroutines utilize three phase currents synchronized measurements from both terminals and a three phase voltage measurements from one terminal for determining the respective per unit distance to a fault.

    • A system for notifying and/or warning of fallen or downed insulated conductor generally includes a distribution system for distributing a utility, such as power, and a sensor system for sensing whether the distribution system is properly operating. The warning system can include a support structure; an arm carried by the support structure and extending outwardly therefrom; a distribution system providing a utility via at least one wire, the wire held aloft from a below surface via the arm; a communication cable transmitting a signal; a disruption assembly carrying the communication cable and in communication with the support structure. The disruption assembly is loaded with the potential of disrupting the signal transmitted by the communication cable; and a sensor system is adapted to monitor the distribution system based on the signal transmitted by the communication cable.

    • The present invention is related to a system and a method for detecting a location of fault in a cable. The system for detecting a location of fault in a cable in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes: a cable, transmitting a fault current; a current transforming unit, connected to the cable and receiving the fault current and detecting an original signal of fault current; a detecting unit, detecting a first detail signal and a second detail signal from the original signal of fault current, the first detail signal and second detail signal being detail components in a high frequency band; a comparing unit, comparing the first detail signal with a preset reference value and determining a fault in the cable; and a signal filtering unit, generating a first filtering signal and a second filtering signal by use of the first detail signal and the second detail signal and outputting a fault detection signal based on a result of comparing the first detail signal with the second filtering signal.

    • A system and method of detecting changes in the impedance of a segment of medium voltage power line is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving voltage data comprising data of the voltage of the power lines at locations at a plurality of different points in time, receiving current data that comprises data of the current flowing between adjacent locations at the plurality of points in time, intermittently determining an impedance of the power lines between adjacent locations based on the voltage data and current data, monitoring the impedance of the power lines between adjacent locations over time, and providing a notification of a change in the impedance of a power line between adjacent locations upon detection of a change in the impedance beyond a threshold change.
