摘要： An overrunning clutch is disclosed wherein drive and driven clutch members are engaged by means of sprags which frictionally engage the clutch members in a locking position but which permit relative rotation of the clutch members in a freewheel position. The sprags are part of a sprag assembly including a pair of spaced cages, one frictionally biased to one clutch member and the other frictionally biased to ground. The sprags are symmetrical and provide for double-acting, direction-sensitive operation.

摘要： A transmission is shifted into a reverse state. The transmission includes a clutch. The clutch includes a pocket plate, a notch plate, a first strut housed within a pocket of the pocket plate, and a second strut housed within another pocket. A command is received to shift the transmission to reverse. It is then determined whether the at least one second strut has retracted into the pocket plate. If it remains extended, the first actuator is activated. A first rotational torque is applied to the notch plate in a direction allowing the notch plate to abut the first strut. By doing so, the second strut is released from abutting engagement with the notch plate. A second rotational torque is applied to the notch plate opposite the first rotational torque to rotate the notch plate out of engagement with the first strut, resulting in the transmission entering the reverse state.

摘要： To provide a simple-structured cam clutch that does not require precise control, uses a smaller drive force for forcibly changing cam postures, and provides improved clutch operation stability and high responsiveness. The cam clutch includes a plurality of cams circumferentially arranged between an inner race and an outer race and supported by a cage member, and a selector allowing a rotation angle thereof to be controlled relatively to the inner race or the outer race to which the cage member is fixed. The selector has a cam posture control surface in contact with cam surfaces of the cams and capable of causing the cams to change posture thereof. The cam posture control surface includes a cam release portion radially protruded toward the cams more than a cam actuator portion and causing the cams to change posture thereof to a non-operating posture.

The transmission mechanism transmits the driving force to the drive arm such that the selector plate rotates from the released position to the locked position. The stopper is configured to move between a restricted position and an unrestricted position. The stopper is placed at the restricted position when the actuator is not operated. The release mechanism transmits the driving force to the stopper such that the stopper moves from the restricted position to the unrestricted position.
