    • An air intake system for a multi-cylinder combustion engine comprising a left side plenum and a right side plenum is disclosed. Each of the plenums is connected to a plurality of air intake passages for passing air to a plurality of engine cylinders. A communication valve is provided for connecting the left side plenum with the right side plenum. A short balance plenum is connected between the communication valve and at least one of the plenums. A long balance plenum is connected between the communication valve and at least one of the plenums. The communication valve includes a valve body having an axis and a sealing section rotatable through 360 degrees around the valve body axis. The sealing section is disposed for selectively closing air flow from the short balance plenum and the long balance plenum.

    • An automotive fluid control system with pressure balanced solenoid valve [24] and fluid mixing housing [22] is disclosed. The solenoid valve [24] is preferably used in an EGR (exhaust gas circulation) fluid control system, although the valve may be used in other vehicle fluid control systems, such as an engine block cooling liquid control system. A poppet member [84] of an EGR valve is pressured balanced such that only a light spring [170] and armature [88] are needed to control the positioning of the poppet member [84]. Magnetic and inductance sensors [184, 282] are used to accurately determine the position of the poppet member. The fluid mixing housing [22] homogeneously mixes first and second fluids. A portion of a main first fluid flow is funneled off and mixed in the housing [22] with a second fluid prior to being returned to the main fluid flow. Ideally, the housing [22] has a circumferentially extending channel [95] for intercepting, funnelling and mixing the captured portion of the main first fluid flow with the second fluid flow. Also, a solenoid subassembly [82] is disclosed which can mate with a variety of different valve housings [22] and which is adapted to mount on various engine configurations.

    • An intake manifold assembly is disclosed for an internal combustion engine. The intake manifold assembly includes an intake manifold of a predetermined length and includes a plenum having an interior wall surface and a predetermined cross-sectional area in a plane transverse to the length of the plenum. An air inlet is located mid-way of the length of the plenum, and the air inlet is generally circular in cross-section. A plurality of outlet portions, each having an outlet port in air flow communication with the plenum, each of the outlet ports being substantially equally spaced along the length of said plenum. A cross-sectional area of the outlet port of each outlet portion is substantially equal to the cross-sectional flow area of the plenum and of the air inlet portion. A diverter partition extends integrally from the inner wall of the plenum in a direction toward the mid-point of the air inlet to divert incoming air flow and evenly distribute the air flow to each of the respective outlet ports.
