    • A shingle blank is provided including a substrate coated with an asphalt coating and including a first fold region, a second fold region, a third region, a lower edge and an upper edge. The shingle blank has a length. The first fold region extends substantially across the length of the shingle blank. The second fold region extends substantially across the length of the shingle blank and is positioned between the first fold region and the third region. A first perforation line is positioned between the second fold region and the third region. A second perforation line is positioned between the first fold region and the second fold region. The first and second perforation lines are sufficient to facilitate folding of the first fold region and the second fold region on top of the third region to form a three layered stack configured to be applied across a ridge or hip.

    • A generally S-shaped vent is provided for a roof including a substructure having at least one ventilation hole and being covered by a plurality of tiles. The tiles form a finish layer having peaks and valleys. The vent includes a base assembly having a number of flange members and at least one venting member with a vent aperture. The flange members are coupled to the roof substructure at or about the ventilation hole. At least one cap member is coupled to the base assembly, overlaying the vent aperture and including an upslope end, a downslope end, first and second sides, and an arcuate portion extending between the first and second sides. First and second louvered portions of the first and second sides of the cap member provide a ventilating passageway through the vent. The vent substantially conforms to the peaks and valleys of the finish layer of the roof.

    • In its simplest from, the hidden rain gutter of the present invention consists of a trough having a closed cross-sectional contour that is enclosed for the most of its periphery, having an opening in its upper section adjacent to the drain opening in the roof surface layer through which rainwater is introduced into the trough. The hidden rain gutter of the present invention is configured with at least one drainage outlet and at least one distal end spaced apart from the drainage outlet. The hidden rain gutter element defines a drainage vector between the distal end and the drainage outlet In one preferred deployment of the hidden rain gutter of the present invention the drainage vector is parallel to the plane of the roof surface layer with the distal end deployed higher on the slope of the roof than the drainage outlet such that rainwater falling into the rain gutter element is directed toward the drainage outlet. In a most preferred deployment, the roofing system includes a roofing underlay deployed on the roof structural frame with the roof surface layer supported above the roofing underlay by battens and counter-battens. The planes of the roofing underlay and the roof surface layer are, therefore, substantially parallel and spaced apart at a distance of approximately 6-12 centimeters therebetween. The hidden rain gutter of the present invention is configured for deployment in that space provided between the roofing underlay and the roof surface layer.

    • A shingle includes a body having a top surface, a bottom surface, an upper end, a lower end, a first side, and a second side. The body has a width defined as the distance between the first and second sides and a length defined by the distance between the upper and lower ends: In a preferred embodiment, the shingle also includes a water diverter tab attached to the first side for channeling water onto the top surface of a lower adjacent shingle, and a recess adjacent to the second side for receiving the water diverter tab of a laterally adjacent shingle in an interlocking manner. An anchor tab attached to the second side secures the lower ends of adjacent, interlocked shingles.
