    • A feeding device including a drive roller and a driven roller opposed to the drive roller and biased toward the drive roller, such that the drive and driven rollers cooperate to feed a sheet while holding the sheet therebetween. The driven roller includes a toothed wheel portion and a contactable portion having a diameter smaller than that of the toothed wheel portion. The drive roller includes first and second portions. A radially outer end of the second portion is more distant from an axis of the drive roller than a radially outer end of the first portion. During absence of the sheet between the drive and driven rollers, the contactable portion of the driven roller is held in contact at its circumferential surface with a circumferential surface of the second portion of the drive roller, while a radially outer end of the toothed wheel portion is not in contact with a circumferential surface of the first portion. Also disclosed is an image recording apparatus including the above-described feeding device.

    • The invention provides a discharge mechanism of a sheet which can quickly and securely discharge a sheet without deformation. A discharge mechanism is provided at an end of a transfer path and discharging the paper to a tray is constituted by a pair of discharge rollers and a profiling pusher integrally rotating with the discharge roller. A sponge-like body portion and a plurality of projections, integrally formed on a peripheral surface thereof, are formed in the profiling pusher. The protrusion is brought into contact with a surface of the sheet and deformed in a profiling manner so as to allow the sheet to pass therethrough. When the rear end of the sheet leaves the nip, the deformation of the projection is restored and engaged with the rear end of the sheet, thereby forcibly pushing out the sheet.

    • A strip feed roller for feeding paper or paper-like material or the like. The roller is created for use as a part of apparatus, such as a folder machine, or the like. The strip feed roller has a cylindrical surface portion of substantially uniform diameter along the length thereof. The cylindrical surface portion of the roller has axially extending relatively straight sections of relatively hard or rigid material, such as metal, and relatively straight sections of a rubber-like material, such as urethane. The sections are arranged in alternating relationship. Thus, the roller is capable of applying a firm grip upon a strip, without creasing or wrinkling or cutting the strip. Also, the roller is capable of feeding the strip accurately and precisely without angular, lateral, or longitudinal slippage.

    • A feed roller having a hard roller body and a cylindrical resilient cover member fitted onto the hard roller body. The feed roller has internal contact portions formed on an inner surface of the cover member, the internal contact portions being kept in contact with the outer periphery of the roller body when the cover member is fitted onto the roller body; external contact portions formed on an outer surface of the cover member so as to project outwardly in the radial direction of the cover member; and spaces defined between the inner surfaces of the external contact portions and the outer periphery of the roller body. Accordingly, the cover member can easily be attached to the roller body and enables objects to be fed by a small clamping reaction force, thereby preventing the objects from being damaged.
