    • A device for repairing damages caused by stones on windshields comprises a syringe (10) the discharge opening (14) of which is inserted into an applicator (11) adhesively affixed to the windshield (29) by means of a sealing disk (12). The syringe (10) is pre-filled by the manufacturer with a predetermined amount of a liquid synthetic resin which is curable by light. By retracting the syringe plunger (17), a vacuum is created for removing air and moisture that may have penetrated into the damaged portion (30). In its rearmost position, the plunger (17) exposes a vent hold (23) formed in the wall of the syringe casing (13) so that the resin will then be urged into the damaged portion (30) by the ambient atmospheric pressure.

    • A windshield repair device for repairing imperfections, in the form of bull's eyes, chips or cracks, induced by road hazards. The device comprises a first vacuum device for repairing relatively large imperfections, a second vacuum device for repairing relatively small imperfections adjacent the windshield periphery, and a platen to secure the second vacuum device to the windshield. The first vacuum device evacuates a relatively large area over a chip or crack and injects ultra-violet light-settable polymer resins into the evacuated imperfection. The second vacuum device is essentially the inner portion of the first vacuum device and is capable of evacuating a much smaller area. The second vacuum device is primarily useful either at the periphery of the windshield, or on areas of windshields having a high degree of curvature. The platen assists in holding the second vacuum device to the windshield.

    • A system for repairing breaks in laminated and plate glass utilizing a glass replacement chemical wherein glass replacement chemical is disposed in a dispenser having a dispensing end. The apparatus includes a base and an injector tube supported on the base. A tube opening is formed in a portion of the injector tube with a portion of the tube opening intersecting the lower end of the injector tube and an access opening is formed in a portion of the injector tube with the access opening intersecting an outer peripheral surface of the injector tube and extending a distance through the injector tube and intersecting the tube opening. A seal assembly is supported in the injector tube for sealing the lower end portion of the injector tube to the glass to be repaired with the tube opening being disposed generally over a portion of the break in the glass. An arm assembly is connected to the injector tube for supporting the dispenser so the dispensing end of the dispenser is disposed in the access opening to facilitate the injection of glass replacement chemical into the tube opening. In one embodiment, the apparatus also includes an insert and means for holding the insert in place during the repair process, particularly useful in repairing the plate glass.

    • A method is disclosed for repairing laminates such as aircraft transparency windows in which two plies of the laminate have become separated and created a void. The method of the invention basically comprises the steps of selecting an adhesive having a viscosity sufficient to flow into the void formed between the two separated plies and then introducing an amount of the adhesive into the void such that the adhesive fills substantially all of the void thereby repairing the laminate. The preferred technique for introducing the adhesive into the void comprises the steps of filling a syringe with an amount of the adhesive, affixing a hypodermic needle to the syringe, and forcing the needle into the void of the delaminated area. The syringe is then operated to force the adhesive into the void until the void is completely filled with the adhesive.

    • A device for repairing windshield cracks. A cylinder includes a sealing mouth adapted to contain a quantity of filler material. The mouth with filler material therein is positioned over the crack opening. The cylinder includes a small cavity adjacent the mouth and a larger upper cavity. A plunger fitted to the cylinder carries a lower seal for the small cavity and an upper seal for the larger cavity. Moving the plunger from an initial fully depressed to a fully retracted position opens the small cavity to the upper cavity whereby the vacuum of the upper cavity enhances the evacuation of air from the crack. Subsequent depression of the plunger is assisted by a one-way exhaust valve. Such depression of the plunger produces injection of the filler material into the crack replacing the evacuated air.
