摘要： A fluid filtration unit having two or more filter medium layers and/or zones, at least one of the layers/zones having a different particle retention capability disposed on each side of a non-filtering separator element. The filter medium are presently preferably positioned such that each succeedingly distal filter layer or zone from the separator has a decreased particle retention capability than each proceeding filter layer or zone. The filter medium layer most proximal to the separator element may be separated from the separator by a support material for supporting such filter medium element and preventing collapsing of the medium into any separator conduit. At least one of the medium elements is formed from a material which swells in size due to fluid absorption with the various zones and the separator being operatively connected by a new and innovative edge seal. The new and innovative edge seal is presently preferably formed from a thermoplastic material having a modulus of elasticity which is sufficient to permit radial expansion of the edge seal when the unit medium swells in size.

摘要： The present invention relates to a filter for liquid filtration, the construction of the filter ensure increased filtration capacity by using up the filtration medium rather that clogging up. The filter comprises layers of filtration medium (2) and optionally also layers of spacer medium (1). Liquid to be filtered can through bypass spaces circumvent a number of layers of filtration and/or spacer medium and is by at least one sealing (3) directed through the filtering area of filtration medium. End caps (5) with perforations (6) allow the liquid to be distributed within the bypass space between the edges of the layers of filtration medium and spacer medium. Rolled filters with a central core (4) to drain off the filtered liquid can be constructed in large dimensions. Also disclosed is a method making the filter. The filters are suitable for many purposes, especially for filtering liquid with oil.

The first end is adaptable for engagement with structure, such as a frame utilized with a filter element. The second end is also engageable with external structure, such as a handle. Preferably, a filter element is constructed by rolling a media construction around the core construction. The media construction includes a corrugated sheet secured to a flat sheet rolled around the core construction into a coiled construction. The coiled construction has inlet flutes and outlet flutes. Methods for using and assembling filter elements preferably use core constructions as described herein.

摘要： A method for sealing the edges of a filter sheet (10) with wax to create a fluid-impermeable wax seal (11) enclosing a non-sealed portion (12). The method includes applying melted wax to the edges of the filter sheet, heating the treated filter sheet such that the wax permeates through the edges thereof, and then allowing the filter sheet to cool such that the wax congeals. The wax of the fluid-impermeable wax layer (11) has a durometer reading of about 75 to about 100 Shore A hardness at 25° C. and 85° C., a melt point of about 110° C. to about 180° C., a viscosity of less than about 100 cp at 155° C. and preferably includes ethylene bis stearamide. The wax layer increases the useful life of the filter sheet while providing a sheet which is easily released from a filter press and which retains integrity along the seal during repeated hot water sanitations.
