摘要： The invention relates to an apparatus for the treatment of horn splits or cracks on the hoof of horses or other hoofed animals. The apparatus according to the invention is characterized by holding parts (1, 1′) for fastening to the longitudinal sides of a horn split or crack so as to be situated one opposite the other on the hoof and is further characterized by devices (3-14) which connect the holding parts (1, 1′) and by which the distance between the holding parts (1, 1′) is adjustable, causing the horn split or crack to be widened or narrowed.

摘要： The animal wound shield is a protective casing having a shank portion and an appendage cover that can be disposed around a limb and an attached appendage of the animal. The appendage cover is articulated to a lower end of the shank. Thus, the appendage cover is pivotally connected to the shank and moves with the movement of the appendage. The shank may have more than one section, or an upper and lower portion, to extend further up on the limb, and yet still accommodate for joints. The shield is designed for use around an injured limb to cover a bandaged area and prevent further damage to the wounded site. Vent openings are defined in the shank and the appendage cover to permit air circulation. Fasteners may be used at a top end of the shank to hold the shank on the limb.

The dressing may include a flexible sheet, e.g. a metal foil, with an irradiated gamma radiation sensitive adhesive on one surface. The properties of gamma sensitive adhesives are modified by exposure to gamma radiation so as to increase their adhesiveness and volume. The dressing may be applied to human or animal tissue to protect the tissue from the environment, and retain autogenous and other substances at the application site. The dressing may be used at surgical sites or wounds.
