    • The present invention generally relates to the field of mobile multimedia middleware, quality-of-service, shared resource reservation mechanisms, distributed processing systems, handheld computers, computer networking and wireless communication. Particularly, the present invention describes a processing system and pieces of software for one or more communication networks, with middleware comprising an application programming interface (102) cast over a data model describing quality-of-service contracts and quality-of-service adaptation paths specified by quality-of-service aware mobile multimedia applications (101) using said programming interface, in order to manage quality-of-service and mobility-aware for managing network connections with other applications. The present invention hereby relates to a corresponding data model as well as the necessary architecture.

    • The method of operating a man-machine interface unit includes classifying at least one utterance of a speaker to be of a first type or of a second type. If the utterance is classified to be of the first type, the utterance belongs to a known speaker of a speaker data base, and if the utterance is classified to be of the second type, the utterance belongs to an unknown speaker that is not included in the speaker data base. The method also includes storing a set of utterances of the second type, clustering the set of utterances into clusters, wherein each cluster comprises utterances having similar features, and automatically adding a new speaker to the speaker data base based on utterances of one of the clusters.

    • A signal receiver and a method for separating a RDS signal component from a received signal is described. After the received signal has been downconverted to the baseband, the baseband signal is split up into a first baseband signal for a first signal path and a second baseband signal for a second signal path. The first baseband signal is highpass filtered and forwarded to a frequency synchronization unit that generates a frequency synchronization carrier. The second baseband signal is modified in accordance with the frequency synchronization carrier provided by the first signal path, and a synchronized baseband signal is obtained that still comprises the full range of the RDS signal's spectral components.
