    • An ice making machine is provided comprising an ice making chamber and an ice reservoir defined by an insulating material. Ice making plates are vertically disposed beneath a water sprinkler for receiving ice-making water supplied therefrom. The ice-making machine further comprises an ice-making water tank for storing the ice-making water, and an assembly of a pump and a motor for supplying the ice-making water stored in the ice-making water tank to the water sprinkler. An insulating rear panel of a predetermined shape is arranged along the ice making plates between a machine chamber and the ice making chamber. The rear panel is formed by bending one insulating panel into the predetermined shape at a given portion thereof for the arrangement between the machine chamber and the ice making chamber.

    • Disclosed is a mechanism for detecting completion of ice formation and for preventing such opacification of ice pieces in an ice making machine, in which a multiplicity of freezing fingers formed on the lower surface of a freezing base plate are dipped in the water supplied to a freezing chamber defined in a water tray to carry out a freezing operation and form inverted dome-shaped ice pieces gradually around the freezing fingers; characterized in that the mechanism consists of a rocking plate which is rocked with respect to the freezing fingers by a rocking means; and a position detector which is actuated when a predetermined size of ice pieces are formed around the freezing fingers, and the rocking plate is brought into contact with these ice pieces. In this ice making machine, completion of formation of ice pieces around the freezing fingers is designed to be detected easily and securely by the signal from the position detector, and also transparent ice pieces of high commercial value free from opacification can be formed, while opacification of ice pieces to be formed around the freezing fingers can effectively be prevented since the water to be frozen in the water tray is fully agitated by the rocking motion of the rocking plate having formed thereon a multiplicity of through holes and/or side walls also having such through holes.

    • A refrigeration system in an ice making machine has an evaporator coil connected at its inlet side to an outlet of a refrigeration compressor through a condensing coil and at its outlet side to an inlet of the compressor. An expansion valve is interposed between the condensing coil and the evaporator coil. A bypass line is connected in parallel with the condensing coil and the expansion valve. A solenoid valve is disposed within the bypass line to permit the flow of hot gas supplied therethrough from the compressor into the evaporator coil when it has been energized. The expansion valve is in the form of an expansion valve of the externally equalized type associated with an external equalizer pipe having an extremity connected to an intermediate portion of the evaporator coil between the inlet and outlet sides thereof. A thermostat bulb is located on a return line between the outlet side of the evaporator coil and the compressor. The thermostat bulb is filled with an amount of inert gas, which is determined to cause a maximum working pressure acting on the expansion valve, which is higher than the pressure of refrigerant at the intermediate portion of the evaporator coil during the freezing cycle and which is lower than the pressure of hot gas at the intermediate portion of the evaporator coil during the defrost cycle.

    • In a liquid fuel combustion apparatus, the upper end of a wick is ready to be ignited when it projects upward from a pan portion, and is extinguished when it is withdrawn downward from the pan portion. The wick moves up and down as a first operating lever swings around an operating shaft. If the first operating lever is lowered, a retaining lever is raised by a bent strip. When the wick is in a position for high-temperature combustion, a retaining portion of the retaining lever engages a receiving portion of an interlocking plate. When the first operating lever is lowered, its engaging pin engages an engaging slit of an adjusting lever. If a knob of a thermal power control plate is moved up and down along a slot, the adjusting lever swings around a support pin, and the first operating lever swings slightly through the engaging pin and the engaging slit. Thus, the wick is moved up and down in a combustion region for adjustment of thermal power. If an extinction lever is operated or if a movement-sensitive pendulum is activated, the retaining portion is disengaged from the receiving portion to cause the operating shaft to rock at a stroke in an extinction direction. Thus, the wick is extinguished in an instant.
