摘要： A replaceable ink cartridge, usable with a bubble jet printer, includes a container having front, back, top bottom and side walls, the container being divided internally into a first chamber and a second chamber having a common partition extending downward perpendicularly toward the bottom wall to provide an opening between the chambers formed by the partition proximate to the bottom wall. The first chamber contains a reservoir of liquid ink and is generally sealed from ambient air except through the opening, and the second chamber has an air vent for admitting ambient air into the second chamber and an ink supply outlet in the front wall. The second chamber contains a sponge-like material for retaining ink, at least one groove in the second chamber side of the partition extending from the opening and terminating at a point partly up the partition to form an air flow passage from the second chamber to the first chamber, the sponge-like material being positioned in the second chamber to permit flow of air from the air vent to the groove when the level of retained ink in the sponge-like material is proximate to the point where the groove terminates. The container is removably mountable in a printer mounting with the bottom wall facing downward and the ink supply outlet facing an ink jet print head so that the ink supply outlet is connectable to an ink port of the ink jet print head.

摘要： A plurality of recording heads for ejecting inks of different colors are reciprocally moved relative to a recording medium, and printing operations are performed by executing main scans in forward and backward scans of the recording heads. In this case, an area printable in a single main scan is recorded by performing a plurality of main scans using a plurality of thinning patterns in which an m.times.n pixel group is defined as a unit pixel group, and the pixel groups are arranged at non-neighboring positions, and which have a complementary arrangement relationship therebetween. A high-quality color image free from time difference nonuniformity, and density nonuniformity caused by, e.g., variations of recording elements is obtained at high speed.

摘要： A replaceable ink cartridge, usable with a bubble jet printer, comprises a container formed by front, back, top and bottom walls, and two side walls providing major surfaces of said container, with a partition dividing the container into first and second chambers communicating with each other through an opening formed by the partition proximate to the bottom wall. The first chamber, which is generally sealed from ambient air except through the opening, contains a reservoir of liquid ink, and the second chamber contains a sponge-like material for producing a negative pressure whereby ink is deliverable from the first chamber through the opening to an ink supply outlet in the front wall proximate to the bottom wall. The partition has at least one groove for forming an air flow passage from the second chamber to the first chamber through the opening, thereby permitting introduction of air into the first chamber and flow of liquid ink to the ink supply outlet through the opening. The container is removably mountable in a printer mounting with the bottom wall facing downward and the front wall facing an ink jet print head so that the ink supply outlet is connectable to an ink port of the print head.

In this method, the surface tension is 40 dyn/cm or less for each of the inks; and the blotting factor against plain paper is 2.5 or less for the black ink, and it is in the range of from 2.5 to 3.5 for each of the color inks. 摘要： An in ink jet printing method and apparatus are disclosed which prevents mixing of ink with a liquid insolubilizing and/or agglomerating the ink and which can print images having excellent water resistance and high quality. Prevention of mixing of the ink with the liquid is achieved by separately arranging an ink receiver for receiving ink ejected by preliminary ejection and the liquid insolubilizing and/or agglomerating the ink ejected by preliminary ejection, or by setting the distance between the ink jet cartridge for the liquid and the cartridge for ink adjacent thereto is made larger than the distance between two adjacent ink jet cartridges. Alternatively, the direction of ejecting ports of an ink jet ejectors may be deviated. Prevention of mixing may also be achieved by using in addition to printing head ejecting ink onto a printing material, a printability improving liquid ejecting head ejecting a printability improving liquid which insolubilizes and/or agglomerates the coloring material in the ink, and recovering units for recovering the heads. Also, mixing of the ink with the liquid is prevented upon capping, wiping, suction recovering.
