    • A method of producing at least one possible sequence of vocal tract resonance (VTR) for a fixed sequence of phonetic units, and producing the acoustic observation probability by integrating over such distributions is provided. The method includes identifying a sequence of target distributions for a VTR sequence corresponding to a phone sequence with a given segmentation. The sequence of target distributions is applied to a finite impulse response filter to produce distributions for possible VTR trajectories. Then these distributions are applied to a linearized nonlinear function to produce the acoustic observation probability for the given sequence of phonetic units. This acoustic observation probability is used for phonetic recognition.

    • A helical electrodeionization apparatus is adapted to purify aqueous liquids to effect the production of high purity water. An insulated net-separating wall is positioned between a pair of anion and cation exchange membranes to form a special membrane bag type flow unit I, each flow unit I is linked up with a group of slots on the side walls of central pipe, and is rolled up to form cylinder structure which centers on central pipe as the helical axis, a conductive crust is formed by winding metal strip or wire outside the cylinder. Ion exchange resin is filled up between the adjacent membrane bags to form flow unit II. The present invention has less pressure drop and needs less power, and is suited to multiple-device series operation. Preferably, daily maintenance and renewal of the resin is convenient, and production cost is lower.

    • A multimedia player and method is disclosed for displaying multimedia content on a video screen. A video stream and a markup language segment associated with the video stream are received, wherein the markup language segment comprising a time stamp identifying a target segment of the video stream, and at least one keyword associated with the time stamp. The keyword is transmitted over a network to a search engine, and related content is received from the search engine over the network, wherein the related content is related to the keyword. When the target segment of the video stream is displayed on the video screen, the related content is concurrently displayed on the video screen.

    • The dilute support frame is made up of interphase longitude and latitude bars that preferably are hollow. The bars can be rectangular, rectangular with a rounded end, half-circular, triangular, polygonal or any combination thereof.
