    • On printer (20), tape cartridge (4) is detachable relative to mounting unit (5). Mounting unit (5) is covered by cover (22). When cover (22) is closed, its protrusion (51) rotates rotary component (54), and its operating edge (54b) moves moving component (55). When operating edge (54b) moves over the top edge of surface A of guiding surface (55a) of the moving component, the cover is completely closed. Subsequently, rotary component (54) is guided to surface B, where it is held in a coupled state. In conjunction with moving component (55), head carrier component (59) rotates, and head (6) located at the tip of the head carrier component becomes fixed at the print position. In the condition in which a print position is formed, rotary component (54) is off from protrusion (51) of the cover. Therefore, no load acts from the side of head (6) onto the side of cover (22). When cover-opening button (24) is pushed down, rotary component (54) disengages from surface B of the moving component, thus creating a condition in which the head has been released.

    • An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine includes a canister for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, a charging passage connecting between the canister and the fuel tank, a purging passage connecting between the canister and the intake system of the engine, an open-to-atmosphere passage for communicating the canister with atmosphere, a charge control valve for selectively opening and closing the charging passage, a purge control valve for selectively opening and closing the purging passage, and a vent shut valve for selectively opening and closing the open-to-atmosphere valve, and a pressure sensor inserted in the charging passage at a location on one side of the charge control valve closer to the fuel tank, for detecting internal pressure within the charging passage. When predetermined conditions are satisfied, the purge control valve is closed and the charge control valve and the vent shut valve are opened. It is determined that the vent shut valve is abnormal when the internal pressure detected by the pressure sensor is below a predetermined negative pressure value while the purge control valve, the charge control valve, and the vent shut valve are in the above respective states.

    • A performance recording and playback apparatus is provided between a performance apparatus and a video apparatus in an audio/video recording and playback system. The performance apparatus is capable of producing and reproducing performance data, while the video apparatus is capable of recording and playing back performance data and video data on a single recording medium. Herein, the performance data produced from the performance apparatus is supplied to and recorded by the video apparatus. Under the operation of the performance recording and playback apparatus, a recording operation of the video apparatus is controlled such that the performance data is recorded in synchronism with the video data, while playback operations of the video apparatus and performance apparatus are also controlled such that the performance data which is played back from the recording medium and then supplied to the performance apparatus is reproduced in synchronism with the video data which is played back from the recording medium and is displayed on a display device. Preferably, the performance apparatus is an automatic player piano or an electronic musical instrument, while the video apparatus is a video tape recorder so that the recording medium is a video tape.

    • A vacuum circuit breaker comprising an external coil which is arranged outside a vacuum interrupter, and a power supply circuit which causes current to flow through the external coil. An overcurrent flowing through the main circuit of the circuit breaker, which leads to a load, is detected by an overcurrent tripping device so as to separate the movable electrode of the vacuum interrupter from the fixed electrode thereof and to subject a striking electric arc to a magnetic flux generated axially of the vacuum interrupter by the electrodes themselves. Thereafter, a trigger gap is ignited by a signal delivered from the overcurrent tripping device, so as to introduce a reverse current into the vacuum interrupter. Herein, the trigger gap is ignited by a signal delivered from the overcurrent tripping device, in order that the zero point of currents may be formed at the point of time at which the axial magnetic flux has been canceled by the resulting current of the external coil. Since the axial magnetic flux remaining at the zero point of the currents is nullified, charged particles are not hindered from diffusing radially of the vacuum interrupter, and hence, an enhanced breaking performance is attained.

    • A coil case with a coil receptacle for receiving a coil winding is formed integrally with cover flaps which are swingably joined to either end of the coil receptacle by hinge portions. The coil case has mounting pawls formed thereon. The coil winding is received inside the coil case and the cover flaps are closed, whereby a leakage magnetic field cancellation coil is assembled. The cancellation coil is mounted onto the deflection yoke by engaging the mounting pawls with a part of the deflection yoke. Since the coil case and the cover flaps are formed integrally with each other, the number of component parts is reduced, thereby facilitating manufacture. Further, the size of the cancellation coil is reduced, thereby reducing the material costs, hence, the production costs of the apparatus. Since the cancellation coil can be mounted onto the deflection yoke by a single-step operation utilizing the mounting pawls, the efficiency of the mounting operation is improved.
