    • An emergency locking scat hinge device includes an inner and outer members defining a plurality of chambers therebetween, each having a relatively wide central part and end parts which get progressively narrower circumferentially away from the central part, a rolling member received in each of the chambers, a resiliently supported retaining member which retains each of the rolling members in the side central part of the corresponding chamber, and an acceleration sensitive locking device which actuates the retaining member so as to cause the rolling members to wedge between the inner and outer members. Because this seat hinge device permits free rotation under normal condition but prevents the relative rotation in a high acceleration situation, it can effectively increase the mechanical strength and rigidity of a seat back against tilting particularly when it is used on one side of a vehicle seat while a normal recliner hinge device is used on the other side of the vehicle seat.

    • An apparatus for superposing a digital watermark for superposing digital watermark information on an information data signal bearing original information, superposes digital watermark information on an information data signal bearing original information, for each unit block consisting of a group of pieces of information data. This apparatus is provided with an auxiliary embedding circuit 10 for embedding second digital watermark information in the information data; a blocking circuit 12 for dividing into the unit blocks the changed information data signal obtained by the auxiliary embedding circuit; and a main embedding circuit 20 for embedding first digital watermark information in the changed information data signal for each of the divided blocks. The second digital watermark information bears information for identifying the position of the divided unit block in a predetermined section of the information data signal. On the basis of the second watermark information, a detecting apparatus effects proper blocking with respect to the information data signal with the watermark embedded therein, so as to detect the first watermark information.

    • In an air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle, a heater core is disposed in an air conditioning case so that a cool air bypass passage through which air bypasses the heater core is provided at an upper side of the heater core. When a foot/defroster mode is set, a defroster door for opening and closing a defroster opening is rotated to an intermediate position between a fully opening position and a fully closing position of the defroster opening. Therefore, a first air passage through which air from the cool air bypass passage flows into the defroster opening is provided between an inner wall portion of the air conditioning case and a top end of the defroster door. Further, a second air passage through which air from an air mixing chamber flows into the defroster opening is provided between an inner wall portion of the air conditioning case and a side end of the defroster door, and an amount of air passing through the second air passage is set to be larger than that of the first air passage. Thus, during the foot/defroster mode, temperature of air blown from the defroster opening can be improved.
