    • There is provided a Java™ conditional access apparatus which, by describing a CA control unit through a Java™ program, obviates the need for porting a CA control program, enables development of a CA system over plural terminals in a short time, and obviates the need for terminal replacement. The Java™ conditional access apparatus includes a descramble circuit, a key generation information obtaining library, a Java™ VM, a storage unit, a condition-release control unit, an API having a registration unit. Upon receiving a function from a CA control program, the registration unit registers the received function. When the API receives information of a channel, the information of the channel to be reproduced is notified to the CA control program. The CA control program requests the key generation information obtaining library to obtain key generation information corresponding to the received channel information, and passes the received key generation information to the condition-release control unit.

    • A chamfering apparatus is used to chamfer a peripheral edge of a glass substrate. The chamfering apparatus includes a grindstone having a cylindrical hollow end portion; a grindstone driving unit that rotates the grindstone around an axis of the cylindrical hollow end portion; a substrate rotation-driving unit that rotates the glass substrate around either one of an axis of the outer periphery and an axis of the center circular hole; and a pressing unit that presses the grindstone to the glass substrate such that an annular end surface of the grindstone contacts with an edge of either one of the outer periphery and the inner periphery of the glass substrate while the cylindrical hollow end portion of the grindstone faces with one of the outer periphery and the inner periphery of the glass substrate.

    • An original roll positioning device sets a position of an end face of a new roll at a predetermined reference position. An end pull-out device sucks and pulls out the leading end of the new web from the positioned new roll at a predetermined length. A pair of roll-up chucks of an end roll-up device holds both sides of the leading end of the pulled-out web, and the roll-up chucks are rotated to roll up the leading end of the web at a predetermined length. A suction box sucks the web at a part between the roll up chucks and the roll, and then a cutter cuts the web along the width of the web to form a splicing part. The splicing part is sucked by the suction box, and the spliced part is made to wait in this state until the start of the splicing operation.
