    • A mounting bracket is used for positioning an electronic device relative to a frame of a forklift truck. A base plate includes a pair of openings therethrough. Each of the pair of openings receives an electronic device therein. Each of the pair of openings includes an elongated recess extending from the opening of the base plate. The elongated recess permits the opening to be in communication with a region exterior to the base plate. A pair of hangers is connected to the base plate and each of the hangers is configured to engage with the forklift truck. A cover plate is configured to enclose each of the pair of the opening so as to protect the electronic device during operation of the forklift truck.

    • A digital recording device comprising a running time clock or counter. The running time clock or counter is displayed on a viewfinder and/or recorded on video tape when the digital recording device is in record mode. The running time clock or counter indicates the time during which video is recorded, starting from the beginning of a recording session. The running time clock may be reset at the discretion of the user. The device may include an RF link to a game clock, and may record the game clock time in addition to, or in lieu of, the running time clock. The present invention may advantageously be used in conjunction with sporting events, time lapse recording applications and usability studies, for example.

    • A method for designating communication paths in a computer network is provided, in which communication paths are designated for the transmission of data throughout a network. The network may have both recipient computers, which are the intended recipients of the data, and intermediary computers, which are not the intended recipients, but merely relay the data. Each intermediary computer is grouped with the “closest” recipient computer (i.e. the recipient computer with whom it is “least expensive” to communicate). Communication paths between the resulting groups are then identified. A representation of the network is then created. The representation replaces the intermediary computers with the inter-group communication paths, so that the inter-group communication paths appear to pass directly through the locations occupied by the intermediary computers. The created representation is then further processed so that the “least expensive” communication paths may be designated.

    • Electronic devices may be provided with compasses for detecting the Earth's magnetic field. Electronic devices may be provided with electronic components that generate interfering magnetic fields for the compass. Electronic components may be coupled between a power supply line and a power return line on a printed circuit. The power return line may be configured to generate a compensating magnetic field to counteract the interfering magnetic fields. The power return line may be formed parallel to the power supply line. The power supply line may have multiple branches equidistant from the compass. The power return line may have a portion closer to the compass than the power supply line and the electronic component. The power return line may have multiple branches, may be provided with resistors on each branch and may include a portion of a circular loop the runs around the compass on the printed circuit board.
