    • A wireless communications connection control method that enables flexible reconstruction of a wireless communications network system structure. The wireless communications connection control method comprising the steps of retaining in advance a node registration table in which the inter-node distance and node types are associated with each node; issuing a joining notification, together with the inter-node distance, in response to when a new node joins the wireless communications system; refreshing the node registration table according to the joining notification, determining whether it is necessary to change the node type based on the inter-node distance stored in the node registration table, and changing the node type stored in the node registration table when it is determined that the type needs to be refreshed.

    • The handheld case of the remote control unit includes at least one touchpad, and other sensors, such as acceleration sensors, case perimeter sensors, pressure sensors, RF signal sensors. These sensors provide a rich array of sensory inputs that are classified by a pattern recognizer to generate control commands for both the consumer electronic equipment and the remote control unit itself. A power management system to conserve unit battery power is also responsive to the pattern recognizer to allow intelligent power management control. The control system uses the display of the consumer electronic equipment to provide instructions to the user, and the behavior of the remote control system uses what is displayed on the display as context information for pattern recognition.

    • When classifying pictures, to enable classification having high robustness by generating indexes for classification, dynamically changing processing areas within the picture based on a video content.A picture classifying unit (104) in a video scene classifying device (100) classifies obtained plural pictures into plural clusters based on a classification index which indicates a feature of the pictures. A cluster selecting unit (106) selects at least one cluster among the classified clusters. An index generating unit (108) assigns the index to at least one picture among the pictures which constitute the selected cluster. Thus, when selecting a cluster, among classified clusters, which is suitable to index assignment, by selecting an indexing rule based on relatively simple information, such as the number of clusters, time distribution, and the EPG information, and generating an index accordingly, a clear and stable chapter can be generated.
