    • The present invention relates to methods for editing timed and annotated data, the method comprising the steps of acquiring a multimedia data stream, segmenting the multimedia stream into respective audio/video audio data streams, wherein the playback times of the audio/video data streams are synchronized. Playback time annotation indicators are associated with the time synchronized audio/video data streams, wherein discrete playback time annotation indicators of the video data stream segments correlate with discrete playback time annotation indicators of the audio data stream segments, and a transcript of the audio data stream is created. The method further comprises the steps of associating the discrete playback time annotation indicators of the audio data stream words, or phrases that are reproduced within the audio data stream with respective corresponding textual representations of the words, or phrases that are comprised within the transcript, editing the transcript, and outputting the transcript in a predetermined data format.

    • Techniques for managing vehicular emergencies are disclosed. For example, a method of managing a vehicular emergency includes the steps of collecting biometric data regarding at least one occupant of a vehicle, collecting data regarding at least one operational characteristic of the vehicle, and detecting vehicular emergencies through analysis of at least a portion of the biometric data and the operational characteristic data.     • Methods and apparatus are disclosed for transmitting data, such as biometric data or Internet telephone data, in a packet network. Packets we split and interchanged prior to transmission across a packet network, such that packets that reach their destination may be processed, even in the presence of lost or delayed packets. Packets of biometric data, such as fingerprints, retinal scans or voice characteristics, of sampled voice packets are split, and optionally interchanged prior to transmission. If some packets are lost or delayed, while some of the packets teach their destination and provide sufficient data for user identification, then the user may be authenticated without requesting the retransmission of the lost or delayed data.     • A volunteer network support group for people with disabilities. People who would like to assist people with disabilities may join a service and receive a wearable device or a palmtop that can communicate wirelessly through a network. People that join the volunteer network describe the type of disability they are willing/certified to assist with, available time and other relevant information. People with disabilities also join the volunteer service network and are provided with a wearable wireless device (i.e. Palm top). Disabled persons also specify their particular disability as well as services that they may require. An example of how these volunteers may be of use is: When a volunteer is gong to work in the morning on the train, the service can connect them through the network to a blind person, and the volunteer may assist the blind person by reading a newspaper through the wireless device (like a cellular telephone).
