摘要： An ink cartridge including: an ink chamber for retaining liquid ink; a foam chamber maintained in fluid communication with the ink chamber through a communication hole. An ink supply port for supplying ink from a porous body accommodated in the foam chamber to a recording head is provided. The portion of the foam body confronting the ink supply port is compressed by the ink supply port. The ratio between the amount of ink initially charged in the ink chamber and that of ink absorbed in the porous body is in the range from 1:1 to 1:3. When a cartridge uses more than one color of ink for printing in color, a plurality of foam and ink cartridges are used. The cartridge is filled under reduced pressure while the interior of the cartridge is further evacuated before filling with ink.

摘要： In an ink jet printer, a recording unit in which an ink cartridge is detachably mounted has a cartridge removal preventing member so that the ink cartridge is prevented from being carelessly removed therefrom, and a moving mechanism is provided which, when the recording unit is mounted on the carriage, moves a first electrical connecting section towards a second electrical connecting section so that the first and second electrical connection section are connected to each other with the aid of an energizing member under pressure, and, when the recording head is removed from the carriage, moves the first electrical connecting section away from the second electrical connecting section against the elastic force of the energizing member, whereby the recording head is detachably mounted on the carriage, and the former is positively electrically connected to the latter.

摘要： A pipelined adder for adding or subtracting two floating point input data each expressed by a sign data, an exponent data and a mantissa expressed in a sign-magnitude format, in accordance with an external operation mode designation signal to produce a floating point sum or difference data in a sign-magnitude format. In a first stage of the adder, the magnitudes of the exponent data of the input data are compared by a subtractor or a comparator and the magnitudes of the mantissa data of the input data are compared by a subtractor or a comparator. An actual operation mode for the mantissa data of the input data is determined, on the basis of the compare results of the exponent data and the mantissa data and the external operation mode designation signals, so that the operation result data is always expressed in a sign-magnitude format.

摘要： An induction cooking apparatus having a plurality of induction heating coils disposed in an array for induction-heating a metallic heating load by electromagnetic induction. Air inlet ports are formed at the front end of the appliance to admit cooling air for cooling the interior of the cooking appliance and air outlet ports are formed at the rear end of the appliance. The apparatus ensures comfortable cooking without exposing the user to hot exhaust air and, also, better cooling without drawing in hot exhaust air or hot steam from the food materials. Furthermore, a partition is provided within the appliance for separating the power converter unit from the operating unit for blocking objectionable movement of cooling air and blocking induction radiation from the power converter unit so as to protect the operating unit from the induction radiation from the power converter unit and prevent faulty operation thereof, and a cooling fan is disposed in an orifice in the partition for circulating cooling air within the appliance and ensuring an efficient cooling performance.

摘要： Electromagnetic coupling between a pan or utensil load to be heated by magnetic induction and a source of high frequency magnetic flux is sensed by detecting a current which is indicative of the electromagnetic coupling by means of a current transformer. The detected current is compared with a reference level. Intermittent generation of the magnetic flux is commenced when, for example, a small magnetic metal object is inadvertently placed as a load with the result that the detected current becomes lower than the reference level. This allows intermittent check for the presence and absence of the inadvertently placed load for subsequent cooking operations and minimization of the heat generated therein.

摘要： An induction heating apparatus is provided with protective circuit arrangements which ensure against surge currents caused by inappropriately timed gating-on of a gate controlled rectifier or by erroneous use of a load material such as non-magnetic or ferromagnetic material. The timed gating of the gate-controlled rectifier is accomplished by means of a delay circuit which serves to count timing after a rectified excitation potential drops to the zero voltage point. A coincidence circuit is provided to detect coincidence of two signals, one is a pulse having a predetermined width and the other is a signal derived when the periodic cycle of the energization currents departs from the predetermined cycle period.
