摘要： A light source unit comprising an arc tube 11 having a light emitting section 111 sealed sections 1121, 1122, an oval reflector 12, and a secondary reflecting mirror 13 for covering the front side of the arc tube 11 and reflecting a luminous flux radiated from the arc tube 11 toward the oval reflector 12, the center of discharging emission from the arc tube 11 is disposed at a first focal position L1 of the oval reflector 12, and the secondary reflecting mirror 13 is configured as a separate member from the arc tube 11, so that the outer peripheral portion of the secondary reflecting mirror 13 is accommodated within a circular cone shown by boundaries L3, L4 connecting a second focal position L2 of the oval reflector 12 and the distal end of the sealed section 1122 of the arc tube 11 when being mounted to the front sealed section 1122 of the arc tube 11.

When the determined electric power is less than predetermined electric power, the control circuit causes a down chopper to control the drive current such that an amount of increase in the electric power per unit time becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value.

摘要： Aspects of the invention can provide a lamp device that is capable of avoiding concentration of stresses in a sub-mirror fixing portion of an arc tube. The lamp device can include an arc tube provided with a bulb portion encapsulating inside a pair of electrodes, and a pair of sealing portions formed continuously from the bulb portion and sealing inside electrode axes having the electrodes at tip ends and conductor foils to bring the electrode axes into conduction, a main reflection mirror, to which the sealing portion is fixed, to reflect lights emitted from the arc tube toward an illuminated region, and a sub-mirror fixed to the sealing portion in such a manner that a reflection surface opposes the main reflection mirror with the bulb portion in between. The sub-mirror can be bonded with a bonding agent to a surface region of the sealing portion present in a direction moving away from the bulb portion in reference to a position corresponding to a termination of the electrode axis.

The projector comprises: an illumination optical system for emitting light; an electro-optical device for modulating the light emitted from the illumination optical system in response to image information; a projection optical system for projecting a modulated light generated by the electro-optical device; and an optical component having a rock crystal member composed of rock crystal, the optical component being located in an optical path including the illumination optical system and the projection optical system. For example, the optical component provided on a light incident side or a light exiting side of the electro-optical device has a rock crystal substrate 308G as the rock crystal member and a polarizing plate 302Go arranged on the substrate. It is preferable that a Z axis of the rock crystal substrate 308G is set to be substantially parallel to or substantially perpendicular to the surface of the substrate.

摘要： To prevent biased consumption of electrodes in a discharge lamp and to prevent biased precipitation of the electrode material, a light source is provided. The light source device has a discharge lamp that emits light by discharge between a first electrode and a second electrode; and a driver that supplies alternating current to the first and the second electrodes so as to maintain the discharge, and changes duty ratio of the alternating current in accordance with predetermined pattern. The predetermined pattern includes a plurality of section periods for which the duty ratio maintains mutually different values for a predetermined period.
