摘要： Tire recapping or retreading apparatus and method including the use of a tread mold with a plurality of mold segments. A tread mold loading machine is used to position a prepared tire carcass or built tire relative to the mold segments and to install the mold segments on the exterior of the built tire. The mold segments are retained in place on the exterior of the tire carcass by a pair of tension springs. The tension springs hold the mold segments on the tire carcass after the mold segments have been released from the tread mold loading machine. The use of the tread mold loading machine and the mold segments eliminates distortion of the tire carcass during installation of the tread mold on the exterior of the built tire.

摘要： A tire recapping and retreading method and apparatus that includes a rigid, segmented tread mold. The mold is retained in place over the tire carcass and uncured tread material by a resilient elastic tension band or prestressed metal tension springs. Further retaining force is provided by a resilient envelope to complete the formation of the retread when the tire and apparatus is placed in a hot air oven. The use of the rigid segmented mold described eliminates the distortion of the tire carcass by the mold.

摘要： Bales of filamentary material are separated into weighed charges of the material by disintegrating the bales in a rotating drum to produce tufts that are passed to a picking chamber wherein a toothed roll strips individual filaments from a supply roll formed from the tufts and passing the filaments to scales upon which the charges are accumulated. Each time a charge is accumulated on a scale, air is blown across the scale to discharge the scale. The charges are delivered to a magazine having a plurality of vertically stacked chambers, each chamber underlain by a movable gate, through which the charges are passed sequentially to be discharged at a fixed schedule from the lowermost chamber. Spikes mounted on the interior of the drum are shaped to loosen portions of bales entering the drum, tear tufts from such portions, and finally deposit the tufts into an air stream passing through the drum to expel the tufts. Between the drum and the picking chamber, the tufts are treated with an anti-static compound in a chamber through which the tufts fall while a mist of the compound is injected into the chamber. Above the picking chamber, the tufts enter a deflection tower and are deflected to one side or the other of the picking chamber to concentrate the supply roll at one side of the picking chamber and filaments to each of two scales are drawn from opposite sides of the picking chamber.

摘要： A method for recapping a solid tire with precured tread rubber is disclosed. The method comprises preparing a used solid tire for recapping, including buffing down the tire to remove the old tread and to prepare the surface; applying intermediate bonding material including cushion gum; adding precured padding stock for a base layer where needed; applying and splicing together the precured tread rubber strip; placing wicking material across the tread rubber surface, for air bleeding; enveloping the tire; placing the enveloped tire assembly in a curing module having annular sealing means that can be pressed against the envelope at both tire sidewalls to form a sealed space around the envelope; and supplyng heat and pressure in the space to press the envelope and tread rubber against the tire carcass while curing the internal layer(s) of bonding material, thereby securing the layers together and forming an integral retreaded tire.
