    • Efficient apparatus and method for Zadoff-Chu (“Chu”) sequence generation avoids additional processing and hardware complexity of conventional quadratic generating formula followed by Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) with a reference signal generator that produces both a Zadoff-Chu sequence and its DFT. In the wireless communication system (e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE) system), Chu sequences are extensively used, especially in the uplink (UL). Because of the single carrier operating mode, transmitting a Chu sequence in principle involves a succession of generating that sequence, performing a DFT operation and then an IFFT operation. Assuming that the sequence length is N, the initial sequence generation requires 2N multiplications and the DFT requires more than N log 2(N) multiplications. Given the frequent processing of Chu sequences, this would represent a complexity burden. The invention makes it possible to perform the sequence generation and DFT steps without any multiplication operation, except for possibly calculating certain initial parameters.

    • A method and apparatus for generating and use of a position location reference signal that allows a receiver to receive position location signals from relatively weak signal generators when in the presence of a strong signal source. The position location reference signals from multiple sources can be synchronized to occur within a scheduled time slot of a time division multiplexed communication system. During the scheduled time slot, each signal source can configure a transmission that includes a media access control address that corresponds to a value reserved for position location signals. Each signal source also configures the transmission to include a position location reference signal that corresponds to the signal source. The position location signals from each of the signal sources is positioned to occur at a time within the data portion of the scheduled time slot that no neighboring signal source transmits its corresponding position location signal.

    • Aspects disclosed herein relate to channel and interference estimations in a multiple transmission point environment including an eNB and RRHs. In the disclosed aspects, one or more transmission points can signal to a UE to measure channel state conditions based on a first and a second resource pattern. The UE may receive the signaling and perform interference estimation based at least in part on the first resource pattern, and channel estimation based at least in part on the second resource pattern. The UE may generate a channel state report based on the interference and channel estimations, and transmit the channel state report to a transmission point. The eNB may employ the received channel state report in scheduling one or more resources for use by the UE, and may select or adjust network traffic on the first and the second resource pattern, to affect the resulting channel and interference estimation.

    • A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a first message to reconfigure an uplink transmission mode of a user equipment (UE) from a first uplink transmission mode to a second uplink transmission mode is transmitted. Further, a reconfiguration scheme to assure at least one of two or more second messages are recognizable by the UE during a transition period after transmission of the first message is implemented. In another example, a UE and eNB may be equipped to respectively transmit and receive a first message to reconfigure a SRS mode used by a UE. In such an aspect the first message may respectively indicate and be used to determine an SRS transmission port specified in a field capable of indicating a number of SRS transmission ports that is greater than a number of physical UE antenna ports.
