    • A telephone system with a clock includes a circuit which produces a first tone indicating a connection of a transmission line is on hold or that a preset time has arrived, and a different time announcing tone for announcing the arrival of the preset time while the connection of the transmission line is on hold. When a calling tone is to be produced upon reception of the call while the time announcing tone is emitted, the telephone system with the clock produces the calling tone in a manner different from the time announcing tone. Thus, it is possible to be alerted to both the time announcing tone and the holding tone and both the time announcing tone and the calling tone when either combination is initiated at the same time.

    • A structure for a shock energy absorbing type steering apparatus is disclosed in which a column jacket in which a bracket member, rotatably fixed to a clamp, is attached to a vehicle body linked to a column jacket by means of welding and an enclosing body is extended in a space between the bracket member and clamp so as to enclose an upper surface area of the bracket member, thus preventing a foreign matter from invading into the inside of the bracket member. In addition, the bracket member includes a front wall to which the column jacket is perpendicularly fixed, curling portions formed on both side ends of the front wall, rollers inserted into the corresponding curling portions, and side walls extended from the curling portions in parallel to the column jacket, and cut-out portions formed on a portion of the bracket member below the curling portions. Furthermore, the bracket member includes projection portions located below the cut-out portions and engaged and penetrated through step portions of the clamp, the clamp member including pawl portions engaging bottom and front portions. Therefore, even if spot welded portions via which the bracket member and clamp are snapped due to shock generated by secondary collision, the projection portion and pawl portions serve to block the shock energy from being transmitted and prevent the bracket member from disengaging from the clamp. Shock energy is absorbed when the cut-out portions are torn off.

    • A parfocal low-magnification microscope objective lens system comprises, in succession from the object side, a positive first lens member, a negative second lens member and a positive third lens member. The first lens member has its concave surface facing the object; the second lens member includes at least one negative meniscus lens component with its concave surface facing the object; and the third lens member includes a positive lens component with that surface thereof sharper in radius of curvature facing the image plane side. The lens system satisfies the following four conditions: d.sub.A .vertline.f.sub.B .vertline.; where f.sub.A and f.sub.B are the focal lengths of the first and the second lens member, respectively, d.sub.A is the distance from the rear principal plane of the first lens member to the front principal plane of the second lens member, and d.sub.B is the distance from the rear principal plane of the second lens member to the front principal plane of the third lens member.
