    • The present invention provides a piston type compressor in which vibration and noise due to interference between the piston and the cam plate can be suppressed by preventing the rotation of the piston, and at the same time, it is possible to improve the productivity and accomplish the cost down. According to the present invention, the piston type compressor comprises a housing including a crank chamber and a cylinder block. A cylinder bore is formed in the cylinder block. A piston is accommodated in the cylinder bore so as to reciprocate. The piston is operatively connected to the cam plate. The piston reciprocates accompanying with rotation of the drive shaft so that drawing and discharging of a refrigerant is performed. A rotation preventing portion is formed on the piston, and a groove facing the rotation preventing portion so as to have clearance is formed on an inner circumferential surface of the crank chamber. By means of the abutment of the rotation preventing position with the groove, the rotation of the piston is prevented. The groove is formed to have draft smaller than that of other portions in the casting forming process.

    • A torque limiting mechanism for transmitting power from an external drive source to the drive shat of a compressor. A pulley, which is coupled to the external drive source, has elastic members. A hub, which is attached to the drive shaft, has engaging portions. A coupler member is located between the pulley and the hub. The coupler member is engaged with the elastic members and with the engaging portions such that power is transmitted from the pulley to the hub. The urging members urge the coupler member such that the coupler member is disengaged from the engaging portions. When power is transmitted from the pulley to the hub, the elastic members maintain the coupler engaged with the elastic members and the engaging portions. When load generated due to power transmission exceeds a predetermined level, the elastic members are deformed such that the coupler member is disengaged from the elastic members. When disengaged from the elastic members, the coupler member is disengaged from the engaging portions.

    • A controller for a compressor selects a control procedure from a normal displacement control procedure and a temporary control procedure based on information detected by a detector. When the normal displacement control procedure is selected, the controller sends a current, the value of which is based on the detected information, to an electromagnetic actuator. When the temporary displacement control procedure is selected, the controller sends a current having a specific value to the actuator to maximize a target compressor suction pressure. When switching from the temporary displacement control procedure to the normal displacement control procedure, the controller changes the value of the current supplied to the electromagnetic actuator according to a pattern, which is determined based on the detected information, over a predetermined period. The controller determines the pattern of the current variation during the predetermined period based on the suction pressure during or at the end of the temporary displacement control procedure.

    • A control valve for a variable displacement compressor in refrigerant circuit permits the compressor displacement to be accurately controlled regardless of the thermal load on an evaporator. The refrigerant circuit includes a high pressure pipe, which extends between a discharge chamber of the compressor and a condenser. A first pressure monitoring point is located in the discharge chamber. A second pressure monitoring point is located in the high pressure pipe. A supply passage connects the second pressure monitoring point with a crank chamber of the compressor. The control valve is located in the supply passage and adjusts the opening size of the supply passage in accordance with the difference between the pressure at the first pressure monitoring point and the pressure at the second pressure monitoring point. The control valve includes a solenoid for determining the target value of the pressure difference. The control valve operates to maintain the determined target value.
