摘要： A first legacy portion of a physical layer (PHY) preamble is generated, wherein the first legacy portion of the PHY preamble is generated to include a signal field having PHY parameters arranged in subfields according to a first legacy communication protocol. A second portion of the PHY preamble is generated according to a second communication protocol, wherein the second portion of the PHY preamble is generated to include a repetition of the signal field. A PHY data unit that includes the PHY preamble is generated, the PHY data unit being for transmission via a wireless communication channel.

摘要： Systems, apparatuses, and techniques relating to wireless local area network devices are described. A described technique includes transmitting a sounding packet to wireless communication devices; receiving, in response to the sounding packet, feedback packets from the wireless communication devices, wherein the feedback packets collectively comprise beamforming feedback, the beamforming feedback being derived from received versions of the sounding packet; determining a steering matrix based on the beamforming feedback; and transmitting, within a frame, spatially steered data packets to the wireless communications devices. The spatially steered data packets can be based on the steering matrix and data streams intended respectively for the wireless communication devices. The spatially steered data packets can concurrently provide the data streams respectively within the frame to the wireless communication devices via different spatial wireless channels.

摘要： A network interface device generates a packet that includes a beacon frame for transmission in a superframe. The beacon frame is used to announce the presence of a network and also is formatted as a beamforming training (BFT) frame to permit other communication devices to perform beamforming training with the packet. The beacon frame is generated to include (i) a frame control field, (ii) a duration field, (iii) a timestamp field, (iv) information indicative of a time of a subsequent association beamforming training (A-BFT) time slot, and (v) beamforming training information, which includes a countdown field. The network interface device transmits the packet during a beacon timeslot of the superframe, which is separate from an association beamforming training (A-BFT) timeslot of the superframe.

摘要： A data portion of a physical layer (PHY) data unit is generated to include a service field that consists of eight or less bits. When it is determined that the PHY data unit is to be generated according to a first mode of operation of a long range communication protocol, the PHY data unit is generated according to a first format to include the data portion. When it is determined that the PHY data unit is to be generated according to a second mode of operation of the long range communication protocol, the PHY data unit is generated according to a second format to include the data portion, including using a slower clock rate as compared to the first format. The second mode of operation provides longer range communications as compared to the first mode of operation.

A described technique includes generating a physical frame and causing a transmission of the physical frame to the wireless communication device. The physical frame includes (i) one or more medium access control data units that encapsulate data for a wireless communication device, (ii) a medium access control layer pad that includes one or more padding delimiters, and (iii) a physical layer pad, wherein a length of the medium access control layer pad and a length of the physical layer pad are based on the physical frame. The one or more padding delimiters can include an end-of-frame flag to inform the wireless communication device to stop receiving a remaining portion of the physical frame.
