摘要： There is provided a deceleration control system for a vehicle, in which a braking force is applied to a vehicle by a braking device when a determination that a shift speed or a gear ratio of a transmission of a vehicle is changed to a shift speed or a gear ratio for a relatively low vehicle speed is made. Control is performed such that a deceleration (Gt), which is applied to the vehicle by activating the braking device and performing a shift operation for changing the shift speed or the gear ratio of the transmission of the vehicle to the shift speed or the gear ratio for the relatively low vehicle speed, becomes larger than a deceleration (402max), which is applied to the vehicle by only performing the shift operation.

The driving environment detector detects a driving environment of a vehicle including the automatic transmission. The low speed condition detector detects when the vehicle approaches or enters into a place indicative of a down-shift of the automatic transmission, and the prohibition means prohibits a down-shift caused by applying the one-way clutch when the low speed condition detector detects that the down-shift is indicated.

When a downshift command to the automatic transmission is detected when an accelerator pedal is not depressed, a valve opening command is issued to a throttle valve so that engine output will have increased by the time the downshifting action of the automatic transmission actually begins, ignition timing is delayed so that an increase in engine output resulting from the opening of the throttle valve by a throttle valve control means is offset for a period starting at the time the engine output actually increases as a result of the opening of the throttle valve by the throttle valve control means and ending at the time the downshifting action of the automatic transmission actually beings, and the ignition timing delaying is cancelled upon initiation of the downshifting action of the automatic transmission.
