    • A connector for a sheet-like member includes a housing (1) providing an open mouth (110) for receiving the sheet-like member and a support surface (122); terminals (2, 3) arranged in the housing and each comprising a fulcrum portion (25, 35), a contact beam (22, 32) extending into the open mouth from the fulcrum portion and a pivot beam (24, 34) extending in opposite direction to the contact beam from the fulcrum portion; and an actuator (4) rotatable between an open and a closed positions. The actuator has shaft portions (41) pivotally engaging with the pivot beams and cam portions (42) between the shaft portions and rotatably supported on the support surface. The shaft portions will urge upwards the pivot beams to force the contact beams against the sheet-like member with aid of the fulcrum portions while the actuator is rotated from the open position to the closed position.

    • A modular jack (100) in accordance with the present invention includes an insulative housing (1) defines a cavity for receiving a plug connector, a conductive shield (2) substantially surrounding the insulative housing and a module assembly (10) installed in the cavity of the insulative housin. The module assembly includes a magnetic module (3), a first printed circuit board (PCB, 4), a second PCB (5), and a grounding plate (9). A contact array (6) is soldered to the first PCB. The first PCB is attached on a bottom wall (312) of the magnetic module. The second PCB carries capacitors and resistors and a pair of light emitting diodes (LEDs 501, 502) soldered on a front portion thereof. The second PCB is disposed off from a top wall (311) of the magnetic module. The magnetic module defines a passageway (38) and the grounding plate has a flat portion (90) received therein.

    • An electrical socket includes a base having a generally central reception area which can receive an electronic device having leads extending to a peripheral region of the reception area. Multiple pressure members are fixed with respect to the base in a manner permitting movement between open and closed positions. Each of the pressure members has a pressure applying portion which is disposed in the peripheral region when the pressure member is in the closed position and is disposed outwardly of the peripheral region when the pressure member is in the open position. A circuit carrying member having conductive traces extends to within the peripheral region. Springs engage the pressure members when in the closed position and bias the pressure applying portions toward the traces, whereby the electrical leads can extend under the pressure applying portions and be urged by biasing forces against the traces. The pressure members are guided for both tranlational movement and pivoting movement with respect to the base and are movable against the bias of the springs. The pivoting movement relieves the biasing forces from the electrical leads and the translational movement withdraws the pressure applying portions to an area beyond the peripheral region.

    • The present invention provides an electrical connector comprising an insulative housing having a plurality of passageways, and a plurality of contacts received in the passageways, respectively. The passageways each defines two inner walls opposite to each other, the two inner walls each having at least one first retention device. The contacts each include a base, an upper arm extending from one side of the base and a lower arm extending from another side. The upper arm further defines two protrusions on opposite sides thereof and the lower arm defines two protrusions on opposite sides thereof. In assembly, protrusions on upper arm are located above the first retention device of the passageways, and protrusions on the lower arm are located below the first retention device of the passageways such that movement of the contact in the passageway along length axis of the passageway is limited in a predetermined distance.
