摘要： An armature for an electric motor has a lamination stack on a shaft with a commutator mounted on one end of the shaft. Magnet wires wound in slots in the lamination stack, the commutator and armature shaft are at least partially encapsulated in thermoset. The commutator has a commutator ring divided into a plurality of segments with slots between the segments that are filled with a second plastic when the commutator is made by molding a core of the second plastic, such as phenolic, in the commutator ring before the commutator ring is mounted on the armature shaft. Prior to molding the thermoset, the commutator ring is sealed. The seal prevents the thermoset from flowing into the slots between the commutator ring segments or over the commutator ring.

One visual alignment member option includes a longer elongated visual alignment member and a shorter elongated visual alignment member. Further visual alignment member option is a linear edge of the field case housing. An end plate is adapted to close the open end and has a cooperating visual alignment member formed into a surface of the end plate. The end plate is adapted to align the attachment members together upon visually aligning the alignment members together. An associated method which includes aligning the visual indicia of the field case housing with the visual indicia of the end plate with visual reference thereto and without reference to the plurality of attachment members is also provided.

摘要： An electrically conductive brush box is located against the upper surface of a base and has crimping tabs located against an oppositely disposed crimping surface. The base is formed of high temperature resistant plastic. A field case housing has a seat with a retention member adapted to retain the base against the seat. A screw is threaded into the field case housing such that the head presses against a surface of the base member to retain the base member in the seat. The screw member is located in non-contacting relationship with the electrically conductive brush box. A spacer member is adapted to space the portion of the crimping tab against the crimping surface away from the field case housing. The brush box includes a biasing member holder and the crimping tabs are located adjacent the holder.

The output device attachment area includes a locking tab that mates with a slot portion in the output device housing to interlock the two together. As a result, the motor end plate can be conveniently attached to the output device housing without requiring extra fasteners.
