摘要： Method and system for routing network information using a switch element coupled to a network link is provided. The switch element includes a programmable control system to configure the switch element to operate in a default mode, an immediate mode, a threshold mode or an interleave mode; and during the immediate mode, a transmit port inserts at least a fill word with at least a unique character when network information is not available, and transmits network information as soon as it is available. The method includes, determining if an immediate mode is enabled; transmitting at least a fill word with a unique character to a receive port, if network information is unavailable and transmitting network information if the immediate mode is enabled and network information is available.

摘要： A method and system for controlling power consumption in a fiber channel switch element having a plurality of ports and plural links to communicate over a network is provided. The switch element includes, a power control module that is used to provide power to only active ports after firmware of fiber channel switch element determines the active ports. The method includes, determining active ports of the fiber channel switch element, after all the ports are shut down in a known state; and providing power to only the active ports. All ports are powered up during fiber channel switch element reset and then powered down (except a common port) so that the ports are shut down in a known state.

One device includes an adjustment circuit having an adjustable resistor for modifying a resistance value of a resistive device, the adjustment circuit connected to an adjustment terminal of the resistive device. The resistance value of the adjustable resistor changes, when a voltage or charge on the adjustment terminal of the adjustable resistor is changed. The adjustable resistor is a phase change element with an adjusting terminal to which different voltage values are applied for adjusting a conversion device threshold value.

In one aspect, a system for device threshold voltage adjustment is provided. The system includes a sensor module for sensing one or more of temperature and voltage values of a die having a plurality of devices for a circuit; and a threshold temperature and voltage compensation module for receiving an input value from the sensor module to compensate variation in a device threshold voltage caused by changes of one or more of temperature and voltage of the die.

摘要： A fiber channel switch element with an alias cache is provided for routing and filtering frames. The alias cache includes plural entries including a control word having plural fields including an action code for routing frames; an alias word that is compared to incoming frame data using a frame byte compare block; and a bit mask generator for filtering bit combinations from the frame byte compare block; and a depth match block for determining equality between a control word depth field and incoming frame depth field. Frame data comparison is performed on a bit by bit or byte-by-byte basis. An alias cache entry also includes prerequisite data to determine if results of a different entry are to be used to determine an entry match. The action code routes a frame to a processor, discards a frame, sets a status for inspecting a frame or routes a frame based on a standard Fiber Channel addressing scheme.
