    • A method of making panels of composite wood material in a wet process includes depositing a layer of wet composite wood material in a mat on a press wire screen mesh and moving the screen mesh to carry the mat into a pressing position between a pair of spaced apart pressure plates having generally matching, contoured facing surfaces for shaping the outer face and a smoothly contoured back face of the panel. The pressure plates are moved toward one another compressing the mat of wet material and biasing the supporting screen mesh to conform generally to the contour of one of the pressure plates. After a suitable time interval for molding, the pressure plates are moved apart and the press wire screen mesh is rewound on a roll to aid in separating the completed panel from the mesh. The finished panel is carried by the screen mesh away from the pressure plates for unloading as the screen is rolled up and the deformations formed in the screen during molding are flattened out as the screen is rewound on the roll.

    • An instrument having an indicating scale and a pointer movable in relation thereto is provided with a pointer clamping mechanism having a bistable retainer that cooperates with a manually operable actuating member to selectively retain the clamping member in either its pointer-clamping position or in a stored position after it is moved to one of such positions by the actuating member. Positive movement of the clamping member between its two positions is achieved by a connector fastened directly to the clamping member and coupled to the actuating member in a manner that causes the connector to be resiliently loaded when the clamping member is moved away from its stored position.

    • A method for manufacturing a gas sensor assembly characterized by including the use of a unitized annular sub-assembly having a plurality of separable terminal portions on it. Pursuant to the invention the terminal portions are pre-formed with holding apertures and electrically and mechanically joined, respectively, to the ends of a plurality of wires that are effective to support and heat elements of the sensor. The heater and support wires are then positioned within a ceramic housing to dispose each of the pre-formed terminals within indexing recesses formed in the housing walls. After the terminals are thus positioned they are individually clamped to the housing, then the annular portion of the terminal sub-assembly is separated from the terminals.
