    • A system for presenting database query results through an AUI can include a database manager for managing a database query operation on at least one database. The database query operation can produce database query result items. The system further can include a dialog manager for managing the presentation of the database query result items through the AUI concurrently with the database query operation. Notably, the AUI can include a text-to-speech processor for converting the database query result items into audible speech; and, a speech recognition engine for converting speech input into text recognizable by the dialog manager. The AUI further can include a barge-in facility. In one aspect of the invention, the system also can include a queue for storing database query result items from the database query operation; and, a queue manager for managing the insertion and removal of database query items to and from the queue.

    • An efficient method and system, particularly well-suited for correcting natural language understanding (NLU) commands, corrects spoken commands misinterpreted by a speech recognition system. The method involves a series of steps, including: receiving the spoken command from a user; parsing the command to identify a paraphrased command; displaying the paraphrased command; and accepting corrections of the paraphrased command from the user. The paraphrased command is segmented according to command language categories, which include a command action category, an action object category, and an action and/or object modifying category. The paraphrased command is displayed in a user interface window segmented into these command language categories. The user interface window also contains alternative commands for each segment of the paraphrased command.

    • Sample text is evaluated to determine if it is suitable for updating a language file in a computer speech recognition system. The evaluation is performed by retrieving from a memory a sample text file containing text and a function word file containing a list of function words. The sample text file is processed to determine a total number of words it contains and a total number of function words it contains. A ratio is calculated for the total number of function words relative to the total number of words. Based upon the value of the ratio thus calculated a decision can then be made as to whether to update a language model.

    • According to the present invention a compact is provided with a bottom part having space for keeping the makeup powder also. There is a SD slot for saving images in the SD card or the like. In accordance with the invention, a compact is provided with solar re-chargeable batteries as a source of power supply. In view of the foregoing, a makeup mirror apparatus is suggested, in which it is possible to easily finish one's makeup in a beautiful state. The compact of the invention is used for taking self-pictures by the user. Preferably the compact addresses the problem of taking pictures by someone else or using other options of camera like phone cameras of the user after she is finished with a makeover. The compact is portable and can be easily carried by the user anywhere in her purse. The compact that has a two way mirror at one end/face and a camera installed on top of the two way mirror and a camera button on the back side of the compact. The compact is provided with batteries in the battery housing at the back end.
