The packages with internal headers are made by inserting a product or a header into a bag. The bag is sealed to form a first compartment that contains the inserted bag or header. The other of the product and the header is inserted into the bag. The bag is sealed to form a second compartment that contains other of the product or header. The package is separated from the elongated web of interconnected bags.

In one embodiment the insert has anti-corrosion properties. After corrosion-susceptible products have been sealed within the container, chemicals in the insert create a protective environment for the products. By providing inserts with other appropriate chemical constituents, other desirable effects can be created.In an alternative embodiment, an insert can be used in a header portion of the container to provide support for display purposes.

摘要： In a system for dispensing weighed or counted articles, articles are fed from a supply hopper by a vibratory conveyor to maintain a controlled level of articles in a bowl-shaped feeder hopper. In a weigher embodiment, articles are initially discharged from the feeder hopper through two discharge openings into an accumulator bucket. A weighing unit monitors the weight of articles in the bucket and signals a door to close one of the discharge openings as the weight of articles in the bucket begins to approach a predetermined weight. The weighing unit subsequently signals the feeder hopper drive to slow its feeding action as the weight of articles in the bucket more closely approaches the predetermined weight. The feeder hopper discharge openings are arranged near each other at locations where the door-controlled opening will provide a rapid, bulk feed of articles, while the other opening will provide a single-file trickle feed. In a counter embodiment, a feeder hopper having a single discharge opening is used so that articles can pass single file from the feeder hopper past a counter unit to an accumulator bucket.

摘要： A packaging system including novel and improved packaging apparatus, packaging webs, and packaging methods having particular utility in the packaging of powder, granular and other fluent materials. The improved apparatus includes a movable loading chute which extends into a bag positioned in a loading station to funnel materials into the bag. The loading chute is guided by a cam during extension into the bag to assure that it properly enters and opens the bag. The bag is only partially opened by the entering loading chute and a seal is formed between the bag and the chute to prevent the escape of powder, etc. around the chute.The packaging system is operable with existing packaging webs and with an improved packaging web which is partially sealed to define a restricted fill opening. After the bag is filled, the seal is completed across the fill opening, preferably at a location spaced outwardly from the contents of the bag.Other features, including a vacuum system for evacuating air from loaded bags, are disclosed together with packaging methods utilizing the improved apparatus and packaging webs.
