摘要： A digital broadcast transmitting/receiving system, and a signal processing method thereof, includes a randomizer for randomizing a transport stream into a specified position of which stuff bytes are inserted, a stuff-byte exchanger for replacing the stuff bytes included in data output from the randomizer with specified known data, an RS encoder for performing an RS-encoding of data output from the stuff-byte exchanger, an interleaver for interleaving data output from the RS encoder, a trellis encoder for performing a trellis encoding of data output from the interleaver, an RS parity generator for generating a parity by performing an RS encoding of data output from the RS encoder, and outputting the generated parity to the trellis encoder, and a modulator/RF converter for modulating data output from the trellis encoder and performing an RF up-converting of the modulated data. The digital broadcast receiving performance can be improved even in an inferior multi-path channel by detecting the known data from the received signal and using the known data for synchronization and equalization in a digital broadcast receiver.

The digital broadcast system includes a transport stream (TS) generating apparatus which generates a multi transport stream (TS) by multiplexing a normal stream and a turbo stream having a variable coding rate, a transmitting apparatus which re-constructs the multi TS by processing the turbo stream, and transmits the re-constructed multi TS, and a receiving apparatus which receives the re-constructed multi TS, and decodes the normal stream and the turbo stream respectively, to recover normal data and turbo data. Accordingly, a multi TS, which includes normal stream and a turbo stream of various coding rates, can be transmitted and received efficiently.

The digital communication system includes: a channel state judging section; and an equalizing section for compensating for a channel distortion of the inputted signal by initializing a parameter on the basis of the judged channel state. The channel state judging section includes: a channel prediction section for predicting the channel state of the inputted signal by using the field sync; an N number of buffers for storing the state information regarding the N number of channels predicted by means of the N number of the field syncs; a calculating section for calculating a difference between the state information regarding the N number of channels stored in the N number of buffers; and a judging section for judging the channel state on the basis of the calculated difference.

The channel equalizer includes a first equalizer having a first feed forward (FF) unit for eliminating a pre-ghost of an input signal and a first feedback (FB) unit for eliminating a post-ghost of the input signal, a Trellis decoder for Trellis-decoding an output signal of the first equalizer, and a second equalizer having a second FF unit for eliminating the pre-ghost of the input signal and a second FB unit for eliminating the post-ghost of the input signal based on a signal decoded by the Trellis decoder. The first and second equalizers, interacting with the Trellis decoder, enable the equalization performance and speed of the channel equalizer to be enhanced.
