摘要： The invention is a device, and method for deploying same, configured for placement in a body lumen such as a coronary sinus, as may be desired to repair a mitral valve. The device includes a first anchor, a second anchor, and a bridge. The anchors are configured to delivered to a desired deployment site within the body lumen in a collapsed or contracted condition, and then be deployed by expanding the anchors into contact with the walls of the body lumen. One or more of the anchors may be configured to be radially collapsible after initial deployment in order to permit the anchor(s) to be repositioned in or removed from the body lumen. An anchor may be collapsible in response to a distal force applied to a portion of a proximal end thereof. A catheter for use with the implant is configured to deliver the implant to the site with the anchors in their respective collapsed configurations, and to release the anchors to permit them to expand into contact with the walls of the body lumen. The catheter is configured to apply a proximal force to one or both anchors, which may be applied via a cinch wire. The catheter may also be configured to apply a distal force against a portion of the proximal end of one or more of the anchors.

摘要： Bone hooks for use in a spinal fixation system are provided. A device of the invention includes a head portion that can engage a spinal rod of a spinal fixation system, and a hook portion that can be positioned on and/or around a portion of a vertebra. In one embodiment of the invention, the hook portion is adjustably movable with respect to the body portion. In another embodiment, the hook portion includes an auxiliary bone engaging element that can contact a vertebra positioned with a bone receiving region of the hook portion. The auxiliary bone engaging element according to the present invention is particularly useful for maintaining the desired position of the device both during and after the implantation of a spinal fixation system.

摘要： Partially insulated focused ablation (PIFA) catheters using thermally conductive materials have differential radiofrequency (RF) heating and thereby allow for tailored RF application. Open-irrigated, 4 mm, and 8 mm RF ablation catheters were partially insulated by coating half their surfaces with a layer of vinyl, silicone, vinyl-silicone, polyurethane, or a composite of aluminum oxide/boron nitride (AOBN). RF ablation using catheter tips partially coated with a thermally conductive insulation material such as AOBN results in larger ablation lesion volumes without being limited by standard temperature controls. Partial insulation of the catheter tip is able to protect adjacent critical structures during in vivo ablation.

摘要： The invention provides a deflectable catheter capable of forming many variable radius spiral forms from a single, flexible, distal end section. In one aspect, the catheter employs a variable radius control wire to extend or deform a pre-formed loop structure into a three dimensional spiral-like form or geometry. The ability of a single catheter to create a multitude of shapes and sizes allows users to access to a number of anatomical areas without changing the catheter during a procedure or treatment. In another aspect, the invention encompasses methods of producing deflectable variable radius catheters, where two or more regions of the catheter having common control wires are fused or formed onto one another.
