    • Performing power quality and synchrophasor analysis on a resampled signal. A first signal may be initially received which corresponds to a power system. The first signal may have a plurality of cycles and may have a frequency that varies over time. One or more parameters may be determined from the first signal. Based on the one or more parameters, the first signal may be resampled to produce an even angle signal. Various power quality measurements may be performed on the even angle signal. Similarly, further processing may be performed to perform synchrophasor measurements, e.g., to determine phasor, frequency, and/or rate of frequency change for the first signal. In some embodiments, the resampling processing elements (e.g., circuitry, programmable hardware elements, processors and memories, etc.) may be shared between the two analyses.

    • One embodiment of the present invention includes a method for automatically enabling a search system or application to quickly and accurately count hits corresponding to a search expression. For example, a search expression is received or retrieved that may include redundant and/or overlapping search expression components. Each narrow search expression component is removed from the search expression if joined by an “OR” operator to a broader or equivalent search expression component. Additionally, each broad search expression component is removed from the search expression if joined by an “AND” operator to a narrower or equivalent search expression component. By modifying the received search expression in this fashion, a performance gain is typically achieved for calculating the hit count while maintaining its accuracy.

    • Techniques for detecting multiple touch points for touch screen are disclosed. A touch screen includes a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer, each conductive layer having a positive terminal and a negative terminal, an operation of detecting multiple points on a touch screen includes: coupling the positive terminal of the second conductive layer to a positive reference voltage, coupling the negative terminal of the second conductive layer to a negative reference voltage, sampling the positive terminal of the first conductive layer to obtain a series of first voltage samples V1(i), sampling the negative terminal of the first conductive layer to obtain a series of second voltage samples V2(i), wherein i is a sampling number; concluding that a motion tendency of two touch points on the touch screen is contraction when absolute values of the differences V1(i)−V2(i) between the first voltage samples and the second voltage samples tend to increase; and concluding that the motion tendency of two touch points on the touch screen is expansion when the absolute values of the differences V1(i)−V2(i) tend to decrease.
