摘要： Lighting retrofit systems and methods are disclosed that can be used with different light fixtures, but that are particularly adapted for use with retrofitting troffer-style fixtures with LED based light engines. The retrofit systems being assembled without disturbing the lighting or troffer pan or housing (“troffer pan”) for the lighting system being retrofitted. Some of these embodiments can comprise a mounting fixture or frame that can be mounted in an opening in a ceiling grid, and held in place between the grid and the troffer pan edge. The fixture or frame can comprise an opening for a light engine, with the engine being quickly and easily connected to electrical power in the troffer pan and then mountable within the frame opening. These embodiments can allow for the quick and easy construction of the retrofit system without the need for adhesives and fasteners such brackets and screws.

The driver assembly may have a driver-printed-circuit-board, a lumen-switch, a color-temperature-switch, and a driver-box. The driver-printed-circuit-board, the lumen-switch, and the color-temperature-switch may be at least partially housed within the driver-box. With the lumen-switch, a lumen output of the light fixture may be selected. With the color-temperature-switch, a light color-temperature output of the light fixture may be selected. The trim-casing assembly may have a light-emitting-diode-circuit, a reflector, a lens, a can-attachment-means, and a trim-casing-member. The light-emitting-diode-circuit, the reflector, and the lens may be housed within the trim-casing-member. The can-attachment-means may be attached to an exterior of the trim-casing-member and is for attaching the light fixture to the housing-can. The heat-sink may be disposed between the driver assembly and the trim-casing-assembly.

A depth of the sidewall is less than one inch and a thickness of at least a portion of the sidewall is less than three millimeters. An LED board and a lens are coupled to the housing. The lens is disposed with respect to the LED board such that the lens is illuminated from a back side. One or more mechanical couplers snap fit the apparatus to a junction box installed and positioned above the ceiling such that when the apparatus is snap fit to the junction box through the opening of the ceiling, the housing appears to be surface mounted to the ceiling.

摘要： An integrated ceiling and light system that incorporates a light module into a ceiling tile. The system may include a grid support system suspended from an overhead support structure that includes at least one grid support element and first and second ceiling tiles supported by the grid support element in an adjacent manner. A nesting cavity may be formed into the first and second ceiling tiles such that a light module may be disposed within the nesting cavity and coupled to the first and second ceiling tiles. The ceiling tiles may be of the type that conceals the grid support element on which it is supported. In one alternative embodiment, the light module and a nesting region of the ceiling tile may include corresponding edge profiles to facilitate mating therebetween to enable coupling of the light source to the ceiling tile.
