    • A clutch assembly comprising a cylindrical driving member, a cylindrical driven member, coaxial with the cylindrical driving member, and a clutch cylinder between the driving member and the driven member and coaxial with the driving member and the driven member, with at least a portion of the clutch cylinder being radially movable between a driven member engaging position and a driven member disengaging position. The clutch assembly further includes a spring or magnet biasing the clutch cylinder portion towards the clutch cylinder central axis. The driving member includes, on the circumference thereof, a plurality of spaced apart indentations, each having a cam profile. The clutch assembly further includes a pin in each of the indentations, for engaging the driven member in response to rotation of the driving member in one direction relative to the driven member, and to disengage the driven member in response to rotation of the driving in an opposite direction relative to the driven member. The clutch assembly also includes a plurality of friction pads, each one being attached to a different one of the movable portions, and acting in response to movement of its movable portion to cause frictional engagement between the driving member and the driven member through the pivotable portion, so that the driving member rotates the driven member.

    • A bicycle hub assembly includes a hub body mounted around an axial core. The hub body has one end containing a ratchet ring that has an inner periphery formed with unidirectional ratchet teeth. A ratchet wheel is arranged between the axial core and the ratchet ring and has an outer periphery formed with detent recesses, each said detent recess receiving therein a detent for engaging with the ratchet teeth. The detent includes a pivot portion and a swinging arm. The pivot portion is retained by the detent recess and has an arc of 180 to 270 degrees so that the swinging arm swings when the pivot portion rotates in the detent recess. The detent has clenching surfaces for engaging with the ratchet teeth, wherein a direction where the clenching surface extends is identical to a swinging direction of the swinging arm.

    • A free coaster bicycle wheel driving apparatus is provided with a clutch that employs radially acting, rather than axially acting components. An annular drive sleeve projecting inwardly from a drive sprocket is disposed within multiple transmission power transmission sleeves, which are disposed within a cylindrical wheel hub shell. The drive sleeve defines multiple cam lobes and the power transmission sleeves define multiple cam lobes and multiple pockets. When the drive sleeve cam lobes are disposed in the power transmission sleeve pockets, the driving apparatus is disengaged and allowed to free coast. Upon forward rotation of the driving apparatus, the drive sleeve cam lobes rotate toward and engage the power transmission sleeve cam lobes, thereby forcing the power transmission sleeve radially outward towards the wheel hub shell, thereby allowing the sprocket to engage the wheel hub.

    • A free coaster bicycle wheel driving apparatus having a clutch that employs radially acting components. A drive sleeve has an inner cylindrical wall surface mounted coaxially about a wheel mounting shaft and an outer cylindrical wall surface that is eccentric relative to the drive sleeve inner wall surface. The outer surface of the drive sleeve cooperates with a power transmission sleeve that has an inner cylindrical wall surface that is eccentric relative to its cylindrical outer wall surface. The power transmission sleeve is interposed between the drive sleeve and a wheel hub. When the eccentric lobe on the drive sleeve is in opposition to the eccentric lobe on the surrounding power transmission sleeve, the sprocket is disengaged from the wheel hub. Forward rotation of the sprocket jams the lobe of the drive sleeve against the power transmission sleeve, forcing its cam lobe outwardly into frictional engagement with the wheel hub.
