When users rotate the core with a calibration key and rotate the code discs until the code discs is positioned, the combination digits of the code discs exposed out of the body is the correct combination digits. Operating components of the padlock are carried by or within a housing-enclosed frame of the padlock. A strong, corrosion resistant insert, preferably formed from brass of uniform thickness, is configured to fit cleverly around and among the movable operating components to strengthen the padlock and to prevent operating component manipulation if an unauthorized unlocking of the padlock is attempted. In a preferred embodiment, the insert has two substantially identical question-mark-shaped tines configured to extend toward and between different adjacent pairs of the dials that are turned to set a combination.

Thus, the user has to detach the positioning member from the first positioning hole of the shank to release the rotation knob so as to rotate the rotation knob for changing the code of the number wheels, thereby preventing the user from changing the code of the number wheels freely when rotating the rotation knob unintentionally.

The dial is rotatable relative to the housing to positions corresponding to each of the indica subset. A selector is coupled to the dial. Combination members rotate upon rotation of the dial and are each associated with a respective one of the subset of indicia comprising the combination. Rotary members are coupled to the combination members, wherein rotation of the combination members causes rotation of the rotary members. The rotary members and combination members allow entry of the combination by rotating the dial in any direction and independent of a number of rotations made by the dial for activation of the selector to select each of the indicia comprising the combination to unlock the lock assembly.

The pill bottle further includes an inconspicuous defeat mechanism integral with the cap for allowing the pill bottle to be opened, preferably by a pharmacist, if a user forgets the combination of the combination lock.

摘要： A self-scrambling combination includes a frame that supports at least two tumbler rings and an activating slide. The tumbler rings are marked with characters used for a combination for the lock. The lock is openable only when the tumbler rings are located in an open position related to the combination. The activating slide moves a locking bar between a locked position and an unlocked position. A scrambling mechanism is attached to the activating slide and rotates the tumbler rings from the open position to another position upon movement of the activating slide to move the locking bar from the unlocked position to the locked position. The frame can be used as the door of a lockbox and an attached key lock controls the setting of the combination for the lock. The self-scrambling combination lock can be used for a briefcase or valise lock with an additional spring closing the lock.

A method of opening a combination lock with a tool, the combination lock having an opening sequence consisting of clockwise and counterclockwise rotations of a non finger manipulable lock opening component, the method including mating the tool with the lock opening component and operating the tool to rotate the lock opening component through a series of clockwise and counterclockwise rotations corresponding to the opening sequence to unlock the lock.
