    • An apparatus is disclosed for automatically dispensing cups to a continuously moving flight conveyor having openings for receiving the cups and carrying the same continuously forward through a cup-filling station, a cup capping station and a cup discharge station. A cup filling means travels forwardly while filling the cups and a heat sealer means heat seals cups to the cup rims while traveling forwardly with the cups. At the discharge station, the cups are automatically lifted and transferred from openings in the flight conveyor to a take-off means as the cups continuously travel forwardly. The apparatus is also capable of being modified to operate on an intermittent feed basis with the cups stopping at each of the respective stations.

    • A dispensing device is provided for dispensing cups, and includes a dispensing tube in which a stack of cups may be placed, and a sliding tongue at the bottom of the dispensing tube on which the stack of cups is supported. When it is desired to dispense a cup, a solenoid is actuated to withdraw the sliding tongue from beneath the bottom end of the dispensing tube, and at the same time to pivot a pivot arm attached to it so as to cause a detent arm to project into the interior of the dispensing tube to engage the outer surface of the beverage cup which was second from the bottom of the stack of cups before the actuation of the solenoid began. The bottom-most cup may then fall from the dispensing tube; or it may be pushed downwardly by one or more stripper arms which are associated with the pivot arm so as to extend into the interior of the dispensing tube and engage the upper rim of the bottom-most cup as the pivot arm moves to engage the detent arm. Upon cessation of actuation of the solenoid, the sliding tongue returns to its position below the bottom end of the dispensing tube and the remaining cups in the dispensing tube move downwardly so as to be supported by the sliding tongue.

    • A separator unit for sequentially denesting the lowermost container from an upright stack of nested-like containers, each having an outwardly projecting rim at the mouth thereof. The unit includes a first driven rotor with which the rim of the lowermost container has downward engagement along the surface of a segmental ledge extending from the first rotor pending rotation of the rotor through an arc to withdraw the ledge from the rim, and a blade on a second rotor with which the rim of the lowermost container is engaged and gradually pushed downwardly to separate the lowermost container from the stack when the flange of the first rotor is withdrawn from engagement with the rim of the lowermost container. The second rotor is coupled to the first rotor for rotation in unison with the first rotor about a common axis while allowing the second rotor to have limited movement relative to the first rotor along the common axis.
