    • Brake assemblies for in-line roller skates utilize a brake pad and a support member having portions extending forward of the front wheel. The brake support may fasten to the forward portion of the skate side rail by two bolts substituted for two of the skate's wheel bolts. Tabs or a groove, and a screw secure the replaceable brake pad to the forward portion of the brake support. The pad extends around the front of the front wheel and also at least partially around to the side of the front wheel on the brake support surface. The brake support member may be formed as an integral part of the side rail extending forward of the front wheel. These arrangements allow the skater to brake safely by tipping the foot downwardly or by dragging the foot to the side.

    • The transportation device according to this invention has the brake device that is released when the control lever is held. Thus the brake device can be used to stop the transportation device and as a parking brake. The transportation device according to this invention is safe because it does not start unless the control lever is operated. If the user, while running the transportation device in a wasteland and the like, is thrown out of the transportation device and releases the control lever, the brake functions automatically and the engine output decreases. Thus the transportation device can be stopped without fail, and dose not run uncontrollably.

    • A boot for use with a snowboard having a binding for attachment to the boot. The boot includes a base, a highback, and an upper. The base includes a binding-receiving plate for attaching the boot to the binding on the snowboard. The base also has toe and heel ends. The base is formed with a toecap at the toe end and has a heel counter at the heel end. Tread projects from the bottom of the base for traction when the boot is not attached to the snowboard. The highback extends upwardly from the heel counter of the base. The highback provides aft support to the user. The upper is fixedly attached to the base and is arranged and configured to receive the foot and ankle of the user. The upper has a rearward side adjacent the highback. The upper is more flexible than the base and the highback. A base strap is connected to opposing sides of the base and extends across a portion of the upper. The binding includes a frame for attachment to the snowboard, a first coupling to secure the forward end of the boot, and a second coupling to secure the rearward end of the boot. The coupling are releasable with arms that extend from the sides of the frame. The coupling that secure the forward end of the boot may include either a set of jaws or a simple hook. Both sets of coupling hold the boot, within the sole of the boot, along an axis near the longitudinal center axis of the sole of the boot.

    • The braking system for one or both of the skates such as in-line skates. The braking system uses a hand held RF transmitter activated by a switch to initiate braking action by a receiver located on the skate. The brake, once actuated, can work directly off the ground and be a friction pad type device on the skate and when activated it drags on the ground or a two-fold friction device composed of a extra back wheel that can be restrained by a pad braking device before it is then lowered to having a restricted roll friction on the ground. The braking device can work directly onto the rolling wheels with a friction pad or again it can be a twofold friction device composed of a small convex braking wheel above the rolling wheels that is slowed by a friction pad device before it is used then to restrict the rolling wheels. The remote radio signal device generates the radio signal which is tied to the braking function of the skate to provide either continuous force or a variable braking force. The system also uses wheel rotation and terrain incline data as an input sent by RF signal to said hand held unit to generate skater data such as distance travelled, speed and the like.
