    • Birds, especially, pigeons dislike the presence of a magnetic field because each bird has a biological instinctive ability of sensing the presence of the magnetic field. In order to utilize this biological instinctive sensing ability for the purpose of preventing birds from crowding at the upper part of a building, a plurality of magnetic members are disposed on an arm(s) turnably held at the uppermost end of a support column. When a bird perches on the arm, the latter is turned by the action of his own dead weight, resulting in the bird amazingly flying away from the arm. It is effective that a rotary wind blade having two magnetic members immovably secured to the opposite sides thereof is disposed at the uppermost end of each support column so as to largely affect the magnetic field induced by the magnetic members disposed on the arm and the magnetic members disposed on the rotary wind blade. Magnetic members may be disposed on a wire-shaped member tightly spanned between adjacent support columns, a bird threatening unit, a plurality of wires suspending from the upper end of an opening portion located above the veranda of a building or a similar member.

    • A dominator wire comprises a plurality of braided strands forming a continous wire. Each separate strand is supplied with an electrical current that is different than the electrical current that is supplied to each of the other strands. A plurality of insulating disks are disposed in spaced relationship a predetermined distance apart along the length of the wire creating discrete wire segments. The spaced distance is selected so that a bird that lands on the wire cannot put both of its feet on the wire between the same two insulating disks. Each wire segment has a single exposed metal conductor segment. When the bird alights on the wire, each foot will contact a different metal conductor segment thereby causing a current to flow through the body of the bird causing the bird to be stunned or killed.

    • A vineyard has conductive trellis wires which extend between poles to provide support for the grape vines. At least some of the trellis wires are grounded. A number of identical bird repelling devices are widely spaced throughout the vineyard. Each has a length much shorter than the distance between adjacent vineyard poles, the length being sufficient to allow a bird to land. The bird repelling devices have a circumference less than approximately one and one-half inch to allow the feet of a bird landing thereon to cover most of its circumference. Each bird repelling device is composed of an elongate insulating member and an electrically conductive rod secured to it. The rod is substantially as long as the elongate insulating member. A high voltage is applied to each electrically conductive rod. Each of the elongate insulating members is secured to a portion of the trellis wires parallel to the trellis wires. A bird landing on a bird repelling device completes a circuit between the trellis wire and the electrically conductive rod carried by that bird repelling device. This shocks the bird without substantially harming it so that the bird flies away. Mounting fixtures mounted on vineyard poles at the ends of rows readily accept, hold, and automatically make electrical contact with modified bird repelling devices.
