    • Before recording data included in a data mask on a holographic medium, the data mask and the holographic medium are aligned by an aligner, which includes a beam supplying unit for supplying an incident laser beam; a transferring unit for receiving the incident laser beam and producing a focused laser beam; a reflecting unit including the holographic medium for receiving the focused laser beam through a pinhole and then reflecting the received laser beam back to the pinhole, wherein the reflected laser beam passing through the pinhole returns to the transferring unit and then is converted into a return laser beam by the transferring unit; and a detecting unit for checking the amount of the return laser beam to determine whether the pinhole and the holographic medium are aligned or not.

    • A protection device for monitoring current in a power cable to an electrical device and for controlling a remotely located starter for the electrical device in response to a system controller. The device includes a transformer magnetically linked with the power cable to produce a voltage signal in response to the presence of a changing current within the power cable. An input circuit located in a single housing together with the transformer is electrically connected to the transformer so as to receive the voltage signal. The input circuit produces, in response to the voltage signal, either a first signal or a first circuit condition at the output terminal of the input circuit, representative of the changing current in the power cable. A switch circuit also in the same container with the transformer has a terminal for sensing either a second signal or a second circuit condition of the remotely located system controller. The switch circuit has a second terminal to provide either a third signal or a third circuit condition effective to control the starter, in response to sensing one of the second signal and the second circuit condition. All of the transformer, the input circuit, and the switch circuit are located in a single unitary package which is easily mounted and adjusted to a desired position.

    • The image display apparatus reads image data, which is recorded by a digital camera etc., from a recording medium etc.; sets an in-focus frequency spectrum threshold for in-focus determination according to the resolution (pixel count) and compressibility of the inputted image data; analyzes a frequency spectrum of the image data; and determines whether a location where frequency components whose levels are higher than the threshold exist in an image. The location having the most frequency components whose levels are higher than the threshold is determined as an in-focus location. If an in-focus location exists, a mark showing the in-focus location is displayed on a screen of a display device. If no in-focus location exists in the image, the image display apparatus performs display of warning information and/or a warning by sound, and prompts the user to confirm necessity of printing.
