    • Gearless differential speed reducer comprising a first disc secured to a casing, a second rotary disc arranged to face the first disc, sinuous grooves provided with the facing sides of discs, the sinuous shapes of which are epicycloid and hypocycloid curves determined along a certain pitch circle, spherical balls provided between the discs to position into the grooves, and an eccentric shaft connected to the rotary disc through a bearing. Rotational movement of the eccentric shaft allows the rotary disc to rotate around one end of the shaft, while going along the pitch circle, since the balls rolls along the sinuous grooves. A single rotation of the shaft permits the rotary disc to travel by the length equivalent to that of two lobes of the grooves, yielding speed reduction ratio as a formula of 2/N(N+2) when the groove of the first disc counts its number of lobes as N.

    • A rotary apparatus of a successive feed die unit of a press apparatus includes an indexing apparatus and a frictional transmission apparatus for transmitting rotation to a lower rotatable die of the die unit for manufacturing a core lamination assembly. The indexing apparatus converts rotation inputted from a crank shaft of a press apparatus into intermittent rotation of a predetermined angle and outputs it to the frictional transmission apparatus. The frictional transmission apparatus has a changeable rotation speed without steps, inputs the intermittent rotation from the indexing apparatus, adds rotational volume of a predetermined skew angle in a positive or negative direction to the inputted intermittent rotation, and transmits the total rotation to the lower rotatable die.

Each roller caster includes two transmission rollers whose combined diameters are slightly larger than the gap between the sun roller and the traction ring, one of the transmission rollers being in engagement with the sun roller and the other with the traction ring such that a torque transmitted through the transmission tends to pivot the casters, which are slightly tilted, into a more upright position with respect to the sun roller and traction ring surfaces thereby forcing the transmission rollers into firm engagement with each other and with the traction ring and the sun roller. The casters have a pivotal support disposed in front of them, with respect to their direction of movement relative to the traction ring and sun roller, which both rotate in the same direction, so that the casters swing into perfect parallel alignment with the axis of the sun roller and the traction ring.

    • Apparatus for selectively imparting rotary motion to two spaced apart rotary members which may be used in a web or tape transport mechanism to bi-directionally transport a web or tape. In a preferred embodiment, this apparatus is used as a tape transport in a magnetic recording and/or playback machine. A drive roll in the tape transport mechanism selectively contacts one of the rotary members. The drive roll is coupled to a bi-directional drive motor and includes an extending shaft segment. A string member, tensioned at each end, has an intermediate portion thereof deployed about the extending shaft segment of the drive roll. Upon rotation of the drive motor in one direction, the drive roll and shaft segment rotate and the frictional forces between the string member and the shaft segment cause the shaft segment to traverse the string in a corresponding direction so as to bring the drive roll into contact with one of the rotary members. When the drive motor is reversed, the shaft segment rotates in the opposite direction causing the drive roll and extending shaft segment to traverse the string in the opposite direction to urge the drive roll into contact with the other rotary member.In the embodiment wherein this apparatus is used in a tape transport system, the respective rotary members are supply and take-up reel disc members, respectively, and depending upon the direction of rotation of the drive shaft, tape is transported from the supply reel in a fast foward mode, and is rewound on the supply reel in a fast rewind mode.
