摘要： An adjustable latch assembly includes a cylindrical housing to accommodate a deadbolt which has a first notch and a second notch. Correspondingly, each of the assembling plates has an assembling hole and an adjusting groove. Two assembling plates are inserted into an adjustable casing which includes an axial hole, a pair of assembling holes and a passage. A pulling member is sandwiched in between the two assembling plates, and has a through hole in which to extend an engaging arm of an actuating cam. A push-button member is movably received in the passage of the adjustable casing, and has an inclined surface. In adjusting operation, the inclined surface of the push-button member moves upward a bottom edge of the pulling member so that a shoulder of the pulling member is disengaged from either of the first notch or the second notch of the connecting plate.

摘要： A multi-use lock housing and cylinder includes a cylinder of a size and shape such as that typically used in key-in-knob locks. A two-part housing includes an outer housing portion and an inner housing portion, each having a bore and a slot into which the lock cylinder can be fitted. The housing and its associated lock cylinder can be used as a direct replacement for existing rim lock cylinders or mortise lock cylinders. The upper, front portion of the outer housing portion can be enlarged for added strength. The enlarged portion can be provided with a receptacle into which a piece of hardened metal is fitted. An extension having a pair of right-angled slots projects from the rear face of the cylinder and the inner housing. The slots receive driving members in the form of cams or tailpieces such as those commonly used with rim cylinders and mortise cylinders. Additional inner housings of different lengths can be provided for those applications that require mortise cylinders of different lengths. The invention enables virtually any existing rim cylinder or mortise cylinder to be replaced without any factory components, thereby greatly reducing a locksmith's inventory requirements.

摘要： A door set mounting including a baffle assembly formed of two circular sheet metal members arranged in face-to-face relationship, and a cylindrical tubular shroud also formed of sheet metal which extends around those members so as to be substantially coaxial therewith. Each circular member has a transversely extending channel formed therein and those channels combine to form a receptacle for a door latch housing. An opening formed through the base of each channel allows passage of a drive spindle for the latch. The two circular members are held in face-to-face relationship by a pair of clips, each of which straddles those members, and the same clips also serve to hold the shroud in assembly with the circular members. Preferably, the shroud is formed of two parts each of which is held by a respective one of the clips.

The latch mechanism further includes an improved mounting arrangement for left- or right-hand mounting and positive centering of lever-type door handles, together with a simplified cam-actuated latch retractor. The deadbolt mechanism includes an improved bolt linkage which provides a desired bolt throw when a relatively small door backset and/or cross bore size is used. The deadbolt mechanism further includes an improved thumb turn rotatable through ninety degrees between orientations representative of deadbolt position.

The lock-housing comprises two connectable parts, of which at least one can be connected to a face plate which is provided with recesses for the dead bolt and latch bolt of the lock. The face plate comprises a U-shaped member which coacts with the end of the lock-housing facing the face plate to stiffen the lock-housing and form a combined unit which presents high resistance to forcing. The face plate and the member form a separate element which is removably connectable to the lock-housing. The lock-housing may either have a recess for receiving the member, said recess engaging around the two lock-housing parts, or, alternatively, the end of the lock-housing facing the face plate may be open; in which case the member enters the lock-housing through said opening and the two lock-housing parts engaging around the member.

摘要： The deadbolt of a lock mechanism is operable from either side of the door by means of a pair of independently operable cams controlled, respectively, on the inside by a knob and on the outside of the door by a key-cylinder arrangement. The lock may also be operable and controlled from the inside by a key-cylinder arrangement. Each of the cams is arranged to release a detent mechanism which normally restrains the deadbolt from movement from either of its effective length of the key-cylinder which is unique and adjustable to accomodate a range of door thicknesses. The lock also includes an arrangement by which the outside cover plate cannot be tampered with to gain forceful entry.
