    • A sheet feed control system for use in an image recording apparatus, for example, includes a suction cup for attracting a sheet-like member such as a photographic film under suction, a crank mechanism for moving the suction cup with respect to the sheet-like member, and a swinging mechanism for swinging the suction cup with the sheet-like member attracted thereto to impart swinging action to the sheet-like member. The crank mechanism is drived by a pulse motor in response to a control signal applied thereto, and the swinging mechanism is drived by a pulse motor in response to a control signal applied thereto. Information, such as rotational speeds and angular displacements, with regard to the pulse motors is stored in a memory, and desired information corresponding to certain physical properties of the sheet-like member, can be selected from the memory by the operator. A controller controls operation of the pulse motors to impart appropriate swinging action to the sheet-like member based on the selected information which is read from the memory.

    • Disclosed is a sheet feeder device including support for a generally vertical stack of sheets. The support means includes endless belts having an upper belt run position to extend across the bottom of the stack of sheets. A stationary gate forming member is provided which is positioned above the upper run of the belts and adjacent the forward side of the stack to define a nip which forms a gap between the gate forming member and the upper run for permitting the lowermost sheet of the stack to pass forwardly from the stack through a nip. The gate forming member is a cylindrical roll defining a central axis and an outer peripheral surface which is concentric to the central axis. The roll has a plurality of annular grooves extending about the circumference thereof, and the grooves are disposed concentrically about a second axis which is eccentric to the central axis. An elastomeric ring is disposed in each of the grooves, and the rings have a coefficient of friction which is higher than that of the material of the roll.

    • A sheet feeder with a feed wheel assembly for conveying an end sheet from a stack of sheets. The feed wheel assembly has a rotatable engagement wheel positioned to contact the end sheet of the stack, and operable to separate and convey the end sheet from the stack; a horizontally extending first shaft on which the wheel is mounted, with the first shaft being angularly movable in a generally vertical direction; a horizontally extending second shaft positioned spaced apart from the first shaft, the second shaft being mounted in a substantially fixed planar orientation to a support frame; and a pair of laterally spaced-apart first and second arms extending between the first and second shafts. Each of the first and second arms has a first portion retaining the first shaft and a second portion longitudinally spaced from the first portion and pivotally connected to the second shaft. The first and second arms are independently-pivotally movable about the second shaft within at least a limited range to permit uninhibited angular movement of the first shaft in a generally vertical direction during operation.

    • A feed member is selectively driven and brought into contact with an image forming medium so as to feed the image forming medium stored in a storage section in a direction toward an image forming section. A drive mechanism selectively applies a force to the feed member so that the feed member is brought into contact with the medium so as to feed the medium. A controlling means supplies a first control signal to the drive mechanism in response to a medium feed instruction signal. The medium can be sufficiently fed in accordance with the first control signal. The controlling means also supplies a second control signal to the drive mechanism in response to an error processing instruction signal when an error occurs. The feed member is separated from the medium in accordance with the second control signal.
