摘要： White-balance is improved when printing on colored media, while minimizing the time and use of costly materials required by present approaches. In an embodiment, the typical solid white fill or background layer is altered by including in the white layer one or more of the other colors already available in the printer to shade this layer. Thus, a small amount of cyan, for example, helps balance a pink-ish (red) media; yellow is used for blue media; and magenta is used for green media; as well as combinations thereof. A combination of transparent process inks and opaque white helps to maintain brightness (luminosity).

摘要： Provided is an inkjet recording device and an inkjet recording method that can selectively perform a high-speed recording mode or a high-quality recording mode without requiring a process of changing configurations of nozzle rows. The head control section performs the discharge control by using all the nozzles belonging to the nozzle groups of respective colors as the usable range Ru in the case where the “high-speed mode” is designated by the mode designating section. On the other hand, in the case where the “high-quality mode” is designated, the head control section determines, for each color, the usable range Ru being a part of the nozzle range Rn configured by the nozzle groups, and performs the discharge control using only the nozzles belonging to the usable ranges Ru so as to cause the ink droplets to be discharged according to the particular color order at any positions on the recording medium.

摘要： There is provided an ink-jet printer including an ink-jet head, a conveyance section, and a controller. The ink-jet head includes a plurality of nozzle groups. Between the plurality of nozzle groups, the nozzles forming the nozzle groups are positioned in conformity with each other, respectively, in a second direction. The controller causes the conveyance section to convey the recording medium between a first pass and a second pass such that the respective nozzle groups have partly overlapped scanning areas, and causes the ink-jet head to print separately between the first pass and the second pass in the second direction. The controller sets usable bordering positions in the overlapping range with respect to the passes. The controller sets the usable bordering positions based on one of such conditions as a duty of printing on the recording medium and a type of the nozzle groups to be used in printing.

Control of first level dot gain upon printing and second level dot gain upon heat activation of the colorant provides an image that is of high quality, and even photographic quality, for most substrates that are usable with the system and method of the invention.
