    • A printing cylinder cleaning apparatus includes a brush roller having brush fibers planted on its outer surface and opposed to a printing cylinder for movements to and away from a position where the brush fibers contact a surface of the printing cylinder, and includes a rotational driver for rotating the brush roll. The brush roller is contained in a casing which also contains a scraper for biting contact with the brush roll and a dust collector for receiving dust removed by the scraper. The scraper may be an elongated polygonal bar twisted in an intermediate portion, or having a splined or knurled outer circumferential configuration.

    • A gravure printing system comprises at least one printing unit for printing a material fed from a supply side, a washing system for supplying a washing solvent to the printing unit and duct assemblies operatively connecting the printing unit and the washing system. The printing unit comprises unit frames located on both the sides of the printing unit, a plate cylinder supported by support shafts rotatably supported by the unit frames, an ink pan disposed movably to an upper operating position and a lower waiting position, a device for closing an upper opening of the ink pan in the operating position and the plate cylinder above the ink pan, a device operatively connected to the washing system for ejecting washing solvent to the plate cylinder, the plate cylinder support shafts, and the ink pan, a plate cylinder exchanging mechanism for conveying the plate cylinder out of the printing unit to exchange a used plate cylinder with a new plate cylinder. The washings of the plate cylinder and the support shafts therefor and the ink pan are performed by the independent washing solvent ejecting devices at different times suitable for the printing operation in association with the ink pan closing operation. The washing solvent, preferably a non-inflammable washing solvent, used for the washing operation is recovered and reproduced by the reproduction system operatively connected to the washing system for reproducing the used solvent as new washing solvent.

    • A system for automatically removing dust from a plate cylinder of a printing press has a laminated structure for inputting a dust removal position, which comprises (a) a printed circuit substrate bearing thereon a reference signal input circuit of comb form with numerous comb conductors and position signal read-out circuits alternatively interposed respectively between adjacent pairs of comb conductors and (b) a pressure-activated conductor sheet superposed in laminated state on and over the circuit substrate. When a printed material having a printing defect due to dust on the printing plate is laid over with correct register on this laminated structure, and the part of the defect is pressed, the nearest conductors of the input circuit and of the read-out circuit are shorted to designate the position of the defect. The resulting signal is processed and is sent to a dust removing mechanism to move a disk-shaped elastic dust removing head to the corresponding dust existing part of the printing plate. The head is revolvable through small increments of angle to present new dust removing parts of its periphery for each dust removing action.
