摘要： A housefly deterrent device is an apparatus used to deter houseflies from approaching a particular area. The apparatus is also configured to mount to an appropriate area for ease of positioning and maintenance and does not rely on chemical compounds to affect houseflies. The apparatus includes a visual deterrent, an orienting fixture, and an attachment mechanism. The visual deterrent is a structure which mimics the physical appearance of the housing of various predators of houseflies sufficiently to affect the general behavior of houseflies. The orienting fixture is a mount which supports and arranges the visual deterrent in position, preferably adjacent to a door or a building entrance. The attachment mechanism is an arrangement of components that allows for connection of the orienting fixture to surfaces or relevant structures proximal to a target housefly protection zone. The visual deterrent is removable, facilitating adjustment, and general maintenance.

摘要： A portable bird scare device uses airflow to create random movement of a sock. For example, a portable bird scare device can be constructed from a toolbox, marine fan, waterproof switch, deep-cycle battery, fuse, ripstop nylon tube, plumbing pipe and plumbing pipe connectors. A switch can control power between the fan and a battery protected by the fuse. The fan can drive air from within the toolbox through pipe and connectors to the ripstop nylon tube. By controlling the dimensions of the ripstop nylon tube, the ripstop nylon tube can be made to alternatively rise and collapse. By constructing the bird scare device in this manner, it can be made to fit the needs of an airport for a portable, all day, quiet device that can be placed in fields and within confined spaces (such as under bridges, within window wells, etc.) to scare birds due to the movement.

摘要： In some embodiments, methods and systems of defending a crop-containing area against crop-damaging pests include an unmanned aerial vehicle including a sensor that detects one or more pests in the crop-containing area and an output device configured to eliminate the pest from the crop-containing area. One or more docking stations configured to accommodate the UAV are provided. A computing device configured to communicate with the UAV and the docking station over a network is provided. The UAV is configured to send pest detection data captured by a sensor of the UAV while patrolling the crop-containing area. In return, the computing device is configured to send a signal to the UAV to indicate instructions to the UAV as to how to move or activate the output device in order to eliminate the detected pest from the crop-containing area.

Upon encountering a predator, the apparatus allows a user to rapidly deploy a collapsible rigid structure from the interior of the hollow walking stick, which supports a membrane, or set of membranes, that display the image of a fearsome creature. The deployed apparatus may also be used as an offensive or defensive pike should a predator charge a user of the apparatus. By increasing the apparent size of a user and displaying a large image of a fearsome creature, predatory animals may be deterred by this predator-intimidating walking stick.
