摘要： A video processing method includes receiving a multimedia file including a first video file encrypted with a first compression algorithm and converting the first video file to a second video file, which is encrypted with a second compression algorithm. The method includes extracting, from the second file, video data indicative of at least one video characteristic of the second file and displaying the video data on a display screen or forwarding the video data to a content insertion server. The first video compression algorithm may be a MPEG-2 video compression algorithm and the second video compression algorithm may be an H.264 algorithm and/o an H.265 algorithm. The video data may include run time data indicative of a run time of the second video file, frame rate data indicative of a frame rate of the second video file, and pixel data indicative of a resolution of the second video file.

In response to a review request from the user terminal, the recorded programming content is retrieved from the storage space allocated thereto, and transmitted to the user terminal through the communications network. The presentation of the recorded programming content may be manipulated by the user to perform rewinding, pausing and fast-forwarding thereon.

摘要： Disclosed herein are systems and methods for implementing model-based quality-of-experience (QoE) scheduling. An embodiment takes the form of a method carried out by at least one network entity. The method includes receiving video frames from a video sender, which had first annotated each of the frames with a set of video-frame annotations including a channel-distortion model and a source distortion. The method also includes identifying all subsets of the received video frames that satisfy a resource constraint. The method also includes selecting, from among the identified subsets, based at least in part on the video-frame annotations, a subset that maximizes a QoE metric. The method also includes forwarding only the selected subset of the received video packets to a video receiver for presentation.

The trick play stream is encoded at a lower encoding bitrate and frame rate than each of the adaptive bitrate streams. The adaptive bitrate streams and the trick play stream are stored in the network services. During normal content streaming and playback, a client device downloads a selected one of the adaptive bitrate streams from network serviced for playback at the client device. To implement a trick play feature, the client device downloads the trick play stream from the network services for trick play playback.

The method encapsulates the content in accordance to an Internet Protocol (IP). The content is then transcoded into a format supported by the access network, and streamed over a distribution network to a remote server or to a subscriber terminal that is coupled to the access network. The apparatus is embodied as stream caching server for streaming the content encapsulated within the packet to access networks via a stream distribution network in response to a request for content. A packet processor is coupled to the stream server for processing the encapsulated content within the IP packets into a format native to the access network.

The method also includes determining a transmission rate for traffic to a client device. The method further includes selecting a subset of frames to drop from the group of frames based on (i) the transmission rate and (ii) a frame difference distortion (FDIFF) metric of each frame in the subset of frames. The method also includes shaping the segment by dropping the selected subset of frames from the group of frames, where the shaped segment has a lower bitrate than the segment. In addition, the method includes transmitting the shaped segment to the client device.
